Electric car climbs faster

Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (PPIHC) has been held annually on Pikes Peak in the US state of Colorado for nearly a hundred years now. Various classes of cars, motorcycles, trucks and ATVs participate in PPIHC competitions, and the number of participants reaches 150.

This year, 72 cars and 62 motorcycles from 10 countries took part in the Race to the Clouds, as its participants informally call it. The first place was taken by the American driver Rhys Millen, who did not reach the record speed, but his victory was marked by two events that occurred for the first time in the history of the PPIHC. Firstly, he won the race driving an all-electric car, and secondly, this car was made in Latvia.

The Latvian company Drive eO, led by young engineer Khristaps Dambis, has prepared a PP03 car specially for racing, which is able to cope with a mountain slope and at the same time develop power up to 1368 hp. In combination with the weight of the car - 1200 kg - this made it possible for the rider to cover the track at speeds up to 260 km / h in 9:07.222. However, even this speed was not enough to break the absolute race record set in 2013 on the "regular" Peugeot 208 - 156 mandatory turns in 8:13.878. Dambis explained this by the significant weight of the batteries and promised that the problem would be solved in a few years.

This can be trusted, since the second place in the race was taken by the car, also electric and also international. The Japanese racer Nobuhiro "Monster" Tajima, who has been successfully participating in these competitions for a long time, led the e-Runner electric car to the finish line for 9.32.401. The author of the "e-runner" was the Croatian company Rimac, which we wrote about earlier. Her 1088 hp Rimac Concept_One car. is the world's fastest commercially produced electric vehicle.

Xiaomi has announced Mi TV LUX OLED Transparent Edition, the world's first fully transparent TV, which will be mass-produced for the consumer market.
