LMZ10501 - DC/DC nanomodule with load current up to 1 A

11.06.2015

Texas Instruments has redesigned the housing of the LMZ10501 miniature DC-DC synchronous buck regulator module, a member of the SIMPLE SWITCHER family, for ease of use and installation. Now the LMZ10501 is available only in a SIL package with dimensions of 3,0x2,6x1,2 mm - in this case, the crystal is mounted under the inductance, thereby providing better heat dissipation due to heat transfer to the PCB and reducing the risk of damage to the module itself during installation.

Despite its small size, the LMZ10501 has excellent features such as low output ripple, low EMI and high efficiency.

The regulator is easy to use and three capacitors and two resistors are enough to provide basic functionality. The voltage conversion in the regulator occurs using PWM. The selected frequency of the built-in PWM generator (2 MHz) allows you to achieve a balance between low ripple and high efficiency. In addition, the use of shielded inductance in the converter, combined with the chassis used and the ability to place external input/output capacitors close to the chassis, allows low electromagnetic emissions (EMI) and CISPR22 Class B compliance to be achieved without the need for additional filters.

Also, the module implements additional functions that simplify its use in the device. To protect the converter in case of excessive current load, a peak current limiting unit is built into the module through built-in power switches. The built-in soft starter avoids high starting currents and output voltage surges when the supply voltage is applied.

The main area of application of the presented nanomodules is applications that are sensitive to the occupied area, with input voltage levels of 3,3 and 5 V with an output current of up to 1 A. Such applications include test and measurement devices, industrial automation devices, etc.

Key Features:

The existence of an entropy rule for quantum entanglement has been proven 09.05.2024

Quantum mechanics continues to amaze us with its mysterious phenomena and unexpected discoveries. Recently, Bartosz Regula from the RIKEN Center for Quantum Computing and Ludovico Lamy from the University of Amsterdam presented a new discovery that concerns quantum entanglement and its relation to entropy. Quantum entanglement plays an important role in modern quantum information science and technology. However, the complexity of its structure makes understanding and managing it challenging. Regulus and Lamy's discovery shows that quantum entanglement follows an entropy rule similar to that for classical systems. This discovery opens new perspectives in the field of quantum information science and technology, deepening our understanding of quantum entanglement and its connection to thermodynamics. The results of the study indicate the possibility of reversibility of entanglement transformations, which could greatly simplify their use in various quantum technologies. Opening a new rule ... >>

New method for creating powerful batteries 08.05.2024

With the development of technology and the expanding use of electronics, the issue of creating efficient and safe energy sources is becoming increasingly urgent. Researchers at the University of Queensland have unveiled a new approach to creating high-power zinc-based batteries that could change the landscape of the energy industry. One of the main problems with traditional water-based rechargeable batteries was their low voltage, which limited their use in modern devices. But thanks to a new method developed by scientists, this drawback has been successfully overcome. As part of their research, scientists turned to a special organic compound - catechol. It turned out to be an important component that can improve battery stability and increase its efficiency. This approach has led to a significant increase in the voltage of zinc-ion batteries, making them more competitive. According to scientists, such batteries have several advantages. They have b ... >>

Alcohol content of warm beer 07.05.2024

Beer, as one of the most common alcoholic drinks, has its own unique taste, which can change depending on the temperature of consumption. A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. The study, led by materials scientist Lei Jiang, found that at different temperatures, ethanol and water molecules form different types of clusters, which affects the perception of alcoholic taste. At low temperatures, more pyramid-like clusters form, which reduces the pungency of the "ethanol" taste and makes the drink taste less alcoholic. On the contrary, as the temperature increases, the clusters become more chain-like, resulting in a more pronounced alcoholic taste. This explains why the taste of some alcoholic drinks, such as baijiu, can change depending on temperature. The data obtained opens up new prospects for beverage manufacturers, ... >>

MRI images become clearer 27.03.2021

Physicists have been able to increase the resolution of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) images by changing the geometry of the dipoles inside the magnetic coil. The method allows to improve image clarity without changing the characteristics of the MRI machine.

MRI allows you to study the internal organs without surgery and without the use of ionizing radiation that is dangerous for the body, as is the case with x-ray tomography. At the same time, MRI also has disadvantages - firstly, the devices for magnetic resonance imaging are extremely expensive, and secondly, the accuracy of the images they produce is not always high.

The principle of operation of MRI is based on a radio frequency magnetic field that interacts with hydrogen nuclei. To create a field, phased antenna arrays are used, the elements of which can be dipole antennas. During operation, a connection is formed between the active dipoles, which reduces the efficiency of the entire coil. To prevent this, additional passive dipoles are used. But the latter can spoil the quality of the picture.

ITMO specialists managed to change the geometry of the dipoles to improve the resolution of MRI. To do this, the scientists arranged the passive elements perpendicular to the active ones. In addition, physicists placed a passive element at the end of the array to provide a strong electrical connection between the dipoles. The effectiveness of the result obtained was verified using computer simulation, as well as experimentally.
