Huawei NetEngine 9000 Petabit Backbone Router

23.04.2015

Huawei unveiled the NetEngine 9000 (NE9000) backbone router platform at the 2015 Global Analysis Summit held at the company's headquarters in Shenzhen. The petabit backbone router has the largest capacity in the industry, meeting carriers' requirements for next-generation data center networking.

With the growing popularity of ultra-high-definition (UHD) video and the move to the cloud, operators are facing new challenges in backbone networks. New services such as FBB 4K/8K and MBB 2K video services require high backbone bandwidth and latency reduction. According to the existing forecast, by 2020 70% of services will be transferred to the cloud. As a result, data centers will gradually become the core of the network. Therefore, the organization of intersystem interaction based on the data center will become the main trend in the construction of next-generation backbone networks.

In line with these trends, Huawei introduced the industry's largest petabit backbone router, the NE9000, supporting the first 2T router line card and leading SDN/NFV technology to meet the demands of next-generation data center networks. The maximum capacity of the NE9000 is 8 Tbps per slot. The capacity of the cluster system increases to 8 Pbps, which means download speeds up to 12 000K videos per second. The 4T line card supports 2GE high port density at wired speed.

All this will allow operators to simplify the network and reduce delays, providing the highest level of service to the end user.

With a programmable chipset and elastic resource allocation operating system, the NE9000 fully supports SDN/NFV and related network functions. Support for network functions through the use of virtualized, automatic and intelligent technologies allows you to flexibly configure network routing, quickly adapt to changes in data center backbone traffic, and optimize the use of network resources.

The solution effectively improves operations, administration and maintenance processes, enabling an open and efficient next-generation intelligent data center backbone network.

The existence of an entropy rule for quantum entanglement has been proven 09.05.2024

Quantum mechanics continues to amaze us with its mysterious phenomena and unexpected discoveries. Recently, Bartosz Regula from the RIKEN Center for Quantum Computing and Ludovico Lamy from the University of Amsterdam presented a new discovery that concerns quantum entanglement and its relation to entropy. Quantum entanglement plays an important role in modern quantum information science and technology. However, the complexity of its structure makes understanding and managing it challenging. Regulus and Lamy's discovery shows that quantum entanglement follows an entropy rule similar to that for classical systems. This discovery opens new perspectives in the field of quantum information science and technology, deepening our understanding of quantum entanglement and its connection to thermodynamics. The results of the study indicate the possibility of reversibility of entanglement transformations, which could greatly simplify their use in various quantum technologies. Opening a new rule ... >>

New method for creating powerful batteries 08.05.2024

With the development of technology and the expanding use of electronics, the issue of creating efficient and safe energy sources is becoming increasingly urgent. Researchers at the University of Queensland have unveiled a new approach to creating high-power zinc-based batteries that could change the landscape of the energy industry. One of the main problems with traditional water-based rechargeable batteries was their low voltage, which limited their use in modern devices. But thanks to a new method developed by scientists, this drawback has been successfully overcome. As part of their research, scientists turned to a special organic compound - catechol. It turned out to be an important component that can improve battery stability and increase its efficiency. This approach has led to a significant increase in the voltage of zinc-ion batteries, making them more competitive. According to scientists, such batteries have several advantages. They have b ... >>

Alcohol content of warm beer 07.05.2024

Beer, as one of the most common alcoholic drinks, has its own unique taste, which can change depending on the temperature of consumption. A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. The study, led by materials scientist Lei Jiang, found that at different temperatures, ethanol and water molecules form different types of clusters, which affects the perception of alcoholic taste. At low temperatures, more pyramid-like clusters form, which reduces the pungency of the "ethanol" taste and makes the drink taste less alcoholic. On the contrary, as the temperature increases, the clusters become more chain-like, resulting in a more pronounced alcoholic taste. This explains why the taste of some alcoholic drinks, such as baijiu, can change depending on temperature. The data obtained opens up new prospects for beverage manufacturers, ... >>

Island powerhouse with artificial intelligence 05.10.2023

The Belgian government continues to pursue an ambitious project to transform the North Sea into the country's key energy hub, and Princess Elisabeth Island is an important step in this process.

The innovative project is being implemented by Belgian transmission system operator Elia, which has already received permission to build a unique island with artificial intelligence - the first of its kind in the world. The installation of the island is scheduled to be completed by August 2026.

Located in the North Sea port of Vlissingen, the island has already become the subject of preparatory work for the installation of a concrete foundation. The design of the island is in its final stages, with the main goal being to protect the marine environment around it.

Not only is Princess Elizabeth Island the first artificially intelligent island, but it will also be the first time any country in the world has placed wind turbines in protected marine areas.
