Samsung Portable SSD T1

22.03.2015

Samsung introduced the portable solid-state drive Portable SSD T1.

The novelty is made in a black case with a textured glossy surface. The dimensions are 71,0 x 53,2 x 9,2 mm, making it easy to fit the drive in a pocket or small handbag. Weight - 30 grams.

The device uses 3D V-NAND technology, or Vertical NAND, which provides for the vertical arrangement of flash memory crystals: this allows you to get a three-dimensional microchip structure and significantly increase the amount of stored information per unit area. Reliability of data storage in comparison with conventional "two-dimensional" products increases in this case by 2-10 times.

TurboWrite drive technology allows you to get the speed of reading / writing information up to 450 MB / s. The USB 3.0 interface is used to connect to a computer.

The capacity of the Samsung Portable SSD T1 is 250 and 500 GB, as well as 1 TB. AES encryption with 256-bit key is supported.

Traffic noise delays the growth of chicks 06.05.2024

The sounds that surround us in modern cities are becoming increasingly piercing. However, few people think about how this noise affects the animal world, especially such delicate creatures as chicks that have not yet hatched from their eggs. Recent research is shedding light on this issue, indicating serious consequences for their development and survival. Scientists have found that exposure of zebra diamondback chicks to traffic noise can cause serious disruption to their development. Experiments have shown that noise pollution can significantly delay their hatching, and those chicks that do emerge face a number of health-promoting problems. The researchers also found that the negative effects of noise pollution extend into the adult birds. Reduced chances of reproduction and decreased fertility indicate the long-term effects that traffic noise has on wildlife. The study results highlight the need ... >>

A New Way to Control and Manipulate Optical Signals 05.05.2024

The modern world of science and technology is developing rapidly, and every day new methods and technologies appear that open up new prospects for us in various fields. One such innovation is the development by German scientists of a new way to control optical signals, which could lead to significant progress in the field of photonics. Recent research has allowed German scientists to create a tunable waveplate inside a fused silica waveguide. This method, based on the use of a liquid crystal layer, allows one to effectively change the polarization of light passing through a waveguide. This technological breakthrough opens up new prospects for the development of compact and efficient photonic devices capable of processing large volumes of data. The electro-optical control of polarization provided by the new method could provide the basis for a new class of integrated photonic devices. This opens up great opportunities for ... >>

Primium Seneca keyboard 05.05.2024

Keyboards are an integral part of our daily computer work. However, one of the main problems that users face is noise, especially in the case of premium models. But with the new Seneca keyboard from Norbauer & Co, that may change. Seneca is not just a keyboard, it is the result of five years of development work to create the ideal device. Every aspect of this keyboard, from acoustic properties to mechanical characteristics, has been carefully considered and balanced. One of the key features of Seneca is its silent stabilizers, which solve the noise problem common to many keyboards. In addition, the keyboard supports various key widths, making it convenient for any user. Although Seneca is not yet available for purchase, it is scheduled for release in late summer. Norbauer & Co's Seneca represents new standards in keyboard design. Her ... >>

The world's tallest astronomical observatory opened 04.05.2024

Exploring space and its mysteries is a task that attracts the attention of astronomers from all over the world. In the fresh air of the high mountains, far from city light pollution, the stars and planets reveal their secrets with greater clarity. A new page is opening in the history of astronomy with the opening of the world's highest astronomical observatory - the Atacama Observatory of the University of Tokyo. The Atacama Observatory, located at an altitude of 5640 meters above sea level, opens up new opportunities for astronomers in the study of space. This site has become the highest location for a ground-based telescope, providing researchers with a unique tool for studying infrared waves in the Universe. Although the high altitude location provides clearer skies and less interference from the atmosphere, building an observatory on a high mountain poses enormous difficulties and challenges. However, despite the difficulties, the new observatory opens up broad research prospects for astronomers. ... >>

Genetics and cholesterol 14.05.2016

An excess of a harmful substance in the blood may not be related to nutrition.

Everyone now knows that low-density cholesterol is harmful: this substance necessary for the body suddenly forms plaques in the blood vessels. Developing over several years, they clog blood vessels, which leads to heart disease and other troubles. It is believed that at risk are overweight people who eat fatty foods and consume a lot of refined sugar. However, sometimes a skinny person who has preferred a Mediterranean diet with an abundance of vegetables, herbs and seafood all his life, doctors say: but you will have too much cholesterol, you should be careful. Why is it so?

It turns out that this is a genetically determined feature of the body. Researchers at the Boston Children's Hospital, led by Dr. Sarah de Ferranti, analyzed data from 36 people who took part in a US nutrition and health analysis program from 1999 to 2012. They looked at blood tests, weight, race, gender, history of heart attacks, and family history of program participants. As it turns out, the family predisposition to high cholesterol is by no means an urban legend, it is present in one person in 250 Americans. More precisely, one in 249 whites, one in 211 blacks, and one in 414 Hispanics. The data on whites upset the researchers: they thought that the predisposition was half as common.

“With a genetic predisposition to high cholesterol, the risk of a heart attack is as if a person is ten years older than his age. If there are cases of early heart attacks in the family, then such people should avoid additional risk factors such as smoking, being overweight, a sedentary lifestyle,” says de Ferranti, "It's a pity we don't have genetic data, and we would like to get it in the course of further work."
