Smart surveillance camera with tracking function

25.12.2014

Amaryllo introduced Indiegogo the iCamPro FHD "intelligent" surveillance camera project with remote notification function.

The novelty is endowed with three motion sensors and a microphone, thanks to which it is able to detect the presence of an intruder anywhere in the room. When one of the sensors is triggered, iCamPro FHD automatically aims the lens at a moving object and starts tracking its movement. At the same time, a notification is sent to the smartphone of the owner of the dwelling.

The camera is equipped with two motors, due to which it can rotate 360 degrees. You can mount iCamPro FHD on a wall or ceiling. In the second case, the image is automatically rotated by 180 degrees. By the way, the video is recorded in Full HD with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.

The developers of the device have provided a light sensor and hidden infrared LEDs: thanks to this, the camera can switch between day and night modes. An integrated speaker allows for two-way communication.
Data exchange with the user's mobile gadget is carried out through the home Wi-Fi network. The footage can be stored on a microSD card or transferred directly to the Google Drive cloud. A companion mobile app exists in both Android and iOS versions.

The project participants stated that the goal of the crowdfunding campaign was a symbolic amount of $1000. At the time of this writing, more than $160 has been raised, and funding will continue for about three more weeks. For now, iCamPro FHD can be reserved for $150.

The existence of an entropy rule for quantum entanglement has been proven 09.05.2024

Quantum mechanics continues to amaze us with its mysterious phenomena and unexpected discoveries. Recently, Bartosz Regula from the RIKEN Center for Quantum Computing and Ludovico Lamy from the University of Amsterdam presented a new discovery that concerns quantum entanglement and its relation to entropy. Quantum entanglement plays an important role in modern quantum information science and technology. However, the complexity of its structure makes understanding and managing it challenging. Regulus and Lamy's discovery shows that quantum entanglement follows an entropy rule similar to that for classical systems. This discovery opens new perspectives in the field of quantum information science and technology, deepening our understanding of quantum entanglement and its connection to thermodynamics. The results of the study indicate the possibility of reversibility of entanglement transformations, which could greatly simplify their use in various quantum technologies. Opening a new rule ... >>

Energy from space for Starship 08.05.2024

Producing solar energy in space is becoming more feasible with the advent of new technologies and the development of space programs. The head of the startup Virtus Solis shared his vision of using SpaceX's Starship to create orbital power plants capable of powering the Earth. Startup Virtus Solis has unveiled an ambitious project to create orbital power plants using SpaceX's Starship. This idea could significantly change the field of solar energy production, making it more accessible and cheaper. The core of the startup's plan is to reduce the cost of launching satellites into space using Starship. This technological breakthrough is expected to make solar energy production in space more competitive with traditional energy sources. Virtual Solis plans to build large photovoltaic panels in orbit, using Starship to deliver the necessary equipment. However, one of the key challenges ... >>

New method for creating powerful batteries 08.05.2024

With the development of technology and the expanding use of electronics, the issue of creating efficient and safe energy sources is becoming increasingly urgent. Researchers at the University of Queensland have unveiled a new approach to creating high-power zinc-based batteries that could change the landscape of the energy industry. One of the main problems with traditional water-based rechargeable batteries was their low voltage, which limited their use in modern devices. But thanks to a new method developed by scientists, this drawback has been successfully overcome. As part of their research, scientists turned to a special organic compound - catechol. It turned out to be an important component that can improve battery stability and increase its efficiency. This approach has led to a significant increase in the voltage of zinc-ion batteries, making them more competitive. According to scientists, such batteries have several advantages. They have b ... >>

Alcohol content of warm beer 07.05.2024

Beer, as one of the most common alcoholic drinks, has its own unique taste, which can change depending on the temperature of consumption. A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. The study, led by materials scientist Lei Jiang, found that at different temperatures, ethanol and water molecules form different types of clusters, which affects the perception of alcoholic taste. At low temperatures, more pyramid-like clusters form, which reduces the pungency of the "ethanol" taste and makes the drink taste less alcoholic. On the contrary, as the temperature increases, the clusters become more chain-like, resulting in a more pronounced alcoholic taste. This explains why the taste of some alcoholic drinks, such as baijiu, can change depending on temperature. The data obtained opens up new prospects for beverage manufacturers, ... >>

Computer mice can detect emotional stress 30.04.2016

The Japanese company Alps Electric presented a miniature sensor for determining the level of hemoglobin in the blood and the degree of saturation with oxygen. The analysis of these blood parameters can prevent a number of diseases and the deterioration of human health. What is important, the analysis is carried out without taking blood samples - by remote spectroscopy. This opens the way for new sensors to wearable electronics such as smartphones, fitness bracelets or smartwatches.

The Alps Electric sensor is built into the mouse. The sensor is located under the thumb and constantly monitors the level of hemoglobin and its saturation with oxygen. For this, two LED lasers in the near infrared range are used, but with different wavelengths. One laser determines the level of hemoglobin saturated with oxygen (oxyhemoglobin), and the second one without oxygen (deoxyhemoglobin).

In addition, sensors for temperature and humidity of the environment are built into the mouse (and you also need a meter for the level of carbon dioxide in the air - this is an important parameter that affects human performance). The combination of indications is displayed on the display of a conventional computer and allows you to study the history of changes in the user's state of health. This is easier and more effective than specifically conducting research, which you still need to force yourself to do.

Apple CareKit is one of the possible implementations of monitoring the user's health indicators using a smartphone.

During this year, this development by Alps Electric will be brought to perfection. Starting next spring, the company promises to start sending samples of sensors for hemoglobin analysis to all interested customers. It should be expected that development will appear in commercial products towards the end of 2017 or in 2018.
