Supermicro A1SA7-2750F motherboard has 17 SATA ports

Supermicro has launched the A1SA7-2750F motherboard for use in 1U servers in Japan.

The product is notable for a large number of SATA 6 Gb / s ports - there are seventeen of them in the Supermicro A1SA7-2750F. Only one of these ports, colored yellow, is connected to the chipset, the work of the remaining sixteen is implemented using the LSI 2116 SW controller.

Supermicro A1SA7-2750F has an integrated processor - eight-core Intel Atom C2750 (2,4-2,6 GHz). The CPU is cooled by a heatsink.

The configuration of the motherboard, in addition to a large number of SATA ports, includes four DIMM slots (supports ECC DDR3 strips with a frequency of 1600 MHz) and one PCI-Express 2.0 x8.

The interface panel of the product has two USB 2.0 ports and two RJ-45 network ports connected to a Gigabit Ethernet adapter, D-Sub video output. The board is powered by two connectors: eight-pin (12 V) and four-pin (5 V).

The Supermicro A1SA7-2750F is priced at $645.

Technology of three-dimensional imaging of cells and tissues under the skin 29.03.2016

Scientists from Stanford University have created a new technology for three-dimensional imaging of cells and tissues under the skin. The development could improve the diagnosis and treatment of some forms of cancer and blindness.

The technology was named MOZART (MOlecular imaging and characterization of tissue noninvasively At cellular ResoluTion). “We tried to look into the body of a living organism and see information at the level of one cell. Until now, there was no way to do this,” said Adam de la Zerda, one of the authors of the study. The technology will allow doctors to track how tumors invisible under the skin respond to treatment, as well as how individual cells are released from the tumor and move around the body.

The scientists used non-toxic gold nanorods that vibrate at lower frequencies or wavelengths of light, according to the Stanford University website. These vibrations scatter light in a special way that can be registered with a microscope. The technology can detect tumors in the skin, colon and esophagus, as well as abnormal blood vessels that appear in the early stages of macular degeneration, a major cause of blindness, the scientists said.
