Miniature Data Acquisition Module Diamond Systems DS-MPE-DAQ0804

29.06.2014

Diamond Systems, a company specializing in the production of compact, ruggedized embedded solutions, has introduced a miniature data acquisition module DS-MPE-DAQ0804. Designed as a PCI Express Mini Card (50,95 x 30mm), this product allows you to add digital and analog I/O to your embedded system configuration. Especially in conditions where low cost, small size and weight are important. The card is designed to work in an extended temperature range - from -40°C to +85°C.

The DS-MPE-DAQ0804 is equipped with eight 16-bit analog input channels, four 16-bit analog output channels, and 21 configurable digital I/O lines.

Analog inputs can work as single-ended and balanced. Programming of the input signal range is provided (selection from four values: +10 V, +5 V, 0-10 V, 0-5 V). The digitization frequency reaches 100 kHz. The DS-MPE-DAQ0804 analog input circuits include a programmable timer to automatically control the sample rate, resulting in high sampling accuracy and reduced CPU overhead compared to the case of software polling. Up to 2048 samples can be accumulated in the FIFO queue to further reduce CPU overhead by reducing the frequency of interrupts used for data transfers.

The signal range in the output channels is also programmable (two values: 0-5V and 0-2,5V). The built-in voltage reference provides high accuracy of conversions over the entire temperature range during the entire service life. The signal generator has an output buffer of 2048 values.

The direction of the digital I/O lines can be programmed in groups of 4, 6, and 8 bits. They can be configured as 24-bit PWM outputs or 32-bit timer/counter outputs powered by a built-in 50 MHz clock.

All I/O signals are brought together in two connectors with latches: one for analog signals, the second for digital. Includes Diamond Universal Driver for Windows Embedded Standard 7, XP, CE and Linux 2.6.xx

Sales of DS-MPE-DAQ0804 have already begun at a price of $270. A cheaper version without analog I/O is also available.

The existence of an entropy rule for quantum entanglement has been proven 09.05.2024

Quantum mechanics continues to amaze us with its mysterious phenomena and unexpected discoveries. Recently, Bartosz Regula from the RIKEN Center for Quantum Computing and Ludovico Lamy from the University of Amsterdam presented a new discovery that concerns quantum entanglement and its relation to entropy. Quantum entanglement plays an important role in modern quantum information science and technology. However, the complexity of its structure makes understanding and managing it challenging. Regulus and Lamy's discovery shows that quantum entanglement follows an entropy rule similar to that for classical systems. This discovery opens new perspectives in the field of quantum information science and technology, deepening our understanding of quantum entanglement and its connection to thermodynamics. The results of the study indicate the possibility of reversibility of entanglement transformations, which could greatly simplify their use in various quantum technologies. Opening a new rule ... >>

New method for creating powerful batteries 08.05.2024

With the development of technology and the expanding use of electronics, the issue of creating efficient and safe energy sources is becoming increasingly urgent. Researchers at the University of Queensland have unveiled a new approach to creating high-power zinc-based batteries that could change the landscape of the energy industry. One of the main problems with traditional water-based rechargeable batteries was their low voltage, which limited their use in modern devices. But thanks to a new method developed by scientists, this drawback has been successfully overcome. As part of their research, scientists turned to a special organic compound - catechol. It turned out to be an important component that can improve battery stability and increase its efficiency. This approach has led to a significant increase in the voltage of zinc-ion batteries, making them more competitive. According to scientists, such batteries have several advantages. They have b ... >>

Alcohol content of warm beer 07.05.2024

Beer, as one of the most common alcoholic drinks, has its own unique taste, which can change depending on the temperature of consumption. A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. The study, led by materials scientist Lei Jiang, found that at different temperatures, ethanol and water molecules form different types of clusters, which affects the perception of alcoholic taste. At low temperatures, more pyramid-like clusters form, which reduces the pungency of the "ethanol" taste and makes the drink taste less alcoholic. On the contrary, as the temperature increases, the clusters become more chain-like, resulting in a more pronounced alcoholic taste. This explains why the taste of some alcoholic drinks, such as baijiu, can change depending on temperature. The data obtained opens up new prospects for beverage manufacturers, ... >>

Mold on walls causes hallucinations 23.03.2019

American scientists from Clarkson University investigated several residential buildings, the residents of which claim to regularly see ghosts and witness various paranormal phenomena. Turned out it was black mold.

Black mold (Stachybotrys chartarum) is a fungus that often appears on surfaces in rooms with high humidity. Because of this type of mold, people have problems with physical health, as well as depression and even hallucinations. Scientists have found that black mold releases toxins dangerous to humans, leading to skin inflammation, nausea, and headaches. The spores of the fungus easily penetrate the lungs and cause diseases of the respiratory system.

For many years, a scientist from the University of Maryland (USA), Richie Shoemaker, studied the well-being of people in whose homes there was an increased level of humidity and, accordingly, black mold. He found that in most of them, toxins caused a violation of the functions of the nervous system.

Shoemaker's findings were confirmed by American scientists from New York's Clarkson University. They proved that the paranormal and ghosts do not exist. The researchers analyzed air samples in dozens of "strange apartments". In all cases, a high concentration of toxins and black mold spores was detected. It turned out that people are mentally healthy, they just periodically suffer from hallucinations.
