Philip Muller, author of UK Energy Security: Myths and Realities, warns the UK of the dangers of betting on renewables. This can lead to instability in energy supplies, the scientist believes.

Increasingly, there is an opinion that renewable energy can become the basis for ensuring energy independence. However, the author is sure that the increase in the share of renewable energy sources in the energy complex is fraught with a threat. Solar and wind power depend on the vagaries of the weather. With the growth in the scale of generation by alternative sources in the common power grid, the dependence of all consumers on random factors also increases.

As an example, Müller cites Germany, which has almost completely switched to renewable energy, where it was cloudy and windless for more than a week. More than 23000 wind turbines stood still, 1 million photovoltaic systems produced electricity in a minimal amount. As a result, the task of providing electricity to almost the entire country was carried out by traditional power plants.

Mueller says that it is not the hope of unstable energy sources, but open free energy markets that is the key to UK energy security. If the kingdom goes the way of Germany, it will be a big risk and destabilize the still reliable energy grid.

Scientists from the University of Southern California (USA) found that people with curly hair tolerate heat better.

The researchers conducted a series of laboratory experiments on a human head model.
