Eurocom has announced a Racer 3W mobile workstation equipped with a 15,6-inch Full HD screen (1920x1080 pixels).

The Intel Haswell platform was chosen as the hardware basis. The laptop is equipped with an Intel HM87 chipset motherboard and a fourth-generation Core processor (up to a 4-core Core i7-4930MX Extreme Edition with a frequency of 3,0-3,9 GHz). The amount of RAM DDR3-1600 reaches 32 GB.

The Racer 3W is available with a wide range of NVIDIA Quadro professional graphics accelerators, up to the K5100M card with 8 GB of memory.

In total, four drives can be installed in the laptop: two mSATA modules, as well as two hard or solid state drives, one of which will occupy the optical drive bay.

The mobile workstation is equipped with a 2-megapixel webcam, ONKYO stereo speakers and a subwoofer, a card reader, DisplayPort 1.2, HDMI, Mini Display 1.2, eSATA/USB 3.0 interfaces, three USB 3.0 ports, USB 2.0 and S/PDIF connectors. The computer weighs 3,3 kg, its dimensions are 375x268x22-45 mm.

The new DC-DC converter EL7566 from INTERSIL has an operating current of up to 6 A and an efficiency of up to 96%. It works with input voltages from 3V to 6V, and its output voltage can be adjusted from 0,8V almost to the input voltage.

The high clock frequency (1 MHz) allows the use of small components, so the converter, made in a 28-pin HTSSOP package, occupies only 5 cm2. The microcircuit has protection against overheating, soft start.
