Ultrabook hybrid Toshiba Portege Z10T

Toshiba has officially announced the Portege Z10T ultrabook with a detachable display. We published preliminary information about this device and its photos two weeks ago. Then he "lit up" at the Intel Developers Forum, held in China.

The Portege Z10T is Toshiba's first hybrid ultrabook that can be used as a tablet. The company is positioning it primarily as a business solution and will sell it pre-installed with Windows 8 Professional.

The main specifications of the device include a multi-touch 11,6-inch display with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels, Intel processors (probably we are talking about Intel Core i3-3229Y, i5-3339Y, i5-3439Y and i7-3689Y chips), an SSD instead of a traditional hard disk and wireless modules Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and UMTS/LTE. In the most expensive modifications, Toshiba Portege Z10T supports Intel Wireless Display (WiDi) technology, which allows wireless transmission of image and sound to a TV.

Of the wired interfaces on the tablet, there are USB 3.0 and micro-HDMI connectors, as well as a micorSD slot. In addition, on the detachable keyboard, the user will find USB 2.0 ports, HDMI, VGA-out, and a Gigabit Ethernet jack. The dimensions of the novelty are 299x220,5x16,9 mm, while the manufacturer does not specify whether an additional battery will be built into the keyboard.

Sales of Toshiba Portege Z10T will begin in the second quarter of 2013, but its price has not yet been determined.

Renesas RX130 microcontrollers with touch control support 14.12.2015

Renesas Electronics has announced the release of the RX32 family of 130-bit touch-enabled microcontrollers. The areas of their application are household appliances, building automation, industrial automation, portable medical devices.

According to the manufacturer, RX130 microcontrollers make it possible to implement the actual control functions and user interface with the help of a single microcontroller.

Support for capacitive sensors allows the use of touch buttons made of various materials, which can be very useful in environments where the use of traditional buttons for some reason is not possible. In industrial electronics, gloved input recognition may be required, and in the case of home appliances, designers have more freedom of expression to make devices look attractive.

Up to 64 touch buttons can be detected depending on the model and mode. At the same time, no more than 10% of the CPU computing resource is spent on actually working with sensors, so RX130 microcontrollers are suitable for quite demanding applications. Other advantages of the RX130 include low power consumption.

Introductory samples of the RX130 are available now. Serial deliveries should begin in March 2016.
