Dutch inventor John Becker of Delft University of Technology has developed a gyrocopter or "flying car" - a miniature aircraft powered by a diesel engine.

To take off, the car only needs a fifty-meter takeoff run. Rising into the air, the "flying car" moves at speeds up to 250 km / h, and lands vertically. The advantage of a mini-helicopter is its ease of control: for its "driving" practically no special training is required.

Tests of the first gyrocopters were successful. The Dutch government is considering supplying almost every law enforcement and rescue worker with gyrocopters.

Computer games are becoming an increasingly popular form of entertainment among teenagers, but the associated risk of gaming addiction remains a significant problem. American scientists conducted a study to determine the main factors contributing to this addiction and offer recommendations for its prevention. Over the course of six years, 385 teenagers were followed to find out what factors may predispose them to gambling addiction. The results showed that 90% of study participants were not at risk of addiction, while 10% became gambling addicts. It turned out that the key factor in the onset of gambling addiction is a low level of prosocial behavior. Teenagers with a low level of prosocial behavior do not show interest in the help and support of others, which can lead to a loss of contact with the real world and a deepening dependence on virtual reality offered by computer games. Scientists involved in tissue engineering and testing new drugs often have to sort, rotate, move, and perform numerous other manipulations on individual cells. They have to do this by pushing the cells with a mechanical probe, or literally "persuading" them to move in the right direction with the help of acoustic waves, electric fields or fluid. To work with a single cell, methods of direct physical contact with a high level of accuracy are used. While non-contact methods, although often faster, are less accurate and are suitable mainly for sorting a large number of cells.

Currently, an international team of researchers has developed a cell manipulation method that combines the advantages of both methods, both contact and non-contact.

Scientists place small plates in a micro-fluidic channel and, using magnetic control, begin to move the plate left and right and back and forth. This movement forms a fluid flow that changes its direction relative to the position of the plate and the channel wall, depending on such oscillation characteristics as frequency, amplitude and phase.

Changing these parameters allows researchers to control the flow, such as pulling a cell out of a group, pushing it towards them, or pushing it away, as well as creating microscopic whirlpools to turn the cell around its axis. When the cell reaches the installed plate, the researchers can use the plate itself for direct and precise manipulations.
