Jammer Grenade

11.07.2012

The Israeli company Netline Communications Technologies presented an original ammunition: the smallest jammer of its kind. Made in the form of a hand grenade, the Portable Jammer Pack (PJP) jammer is primarily designed to block radio fuses, including improvised explosive devices.

In battle, the safety of a building, a parked car, etc. is often questioned. Having PJP, a fighter can simply pull out the safety pin and throw the jammer into a suspicious place. In certain cases, the small dimensions and power of the jammer are even beneficial, for example, to reduce interference with communication systems and the ability to throw the jammer around a corner or through a window. The PJP can also be used on foot patrols when carrying a heavy jammer is impractical. Despite the small size, PJP weighs not so little - 1,1 kg. However, this is several times less than the weight of the lightest portable devices of a similar purpose.

The developers had to work hard to make a jamming grenade. For this, miniature solid-state antenna microcircuits are used. To protect against impacts, the body of the grenade is covered with rubber. Since the PJP batteries give off their full power during 30 minutes of continuous operation, there are special heat-absorbing elements that protect the electronics from overheating.

The PJP grenade is easy to use: you break the pin, as in a regular grenade, and throw it in the right direction. The interference drowns out the remote controls and detonators of improvised and industrial explosive devices. At the same time, technicians can program the grenade in advance to block certain frequencies, including enemy radio communications. To do this, PJP can be connected to a laptop. Due to its silent operation and small dimensions, it is rather difficult for an enemy to detect a jamming grenade. Moreover, if everything goes well, the grenade can be found, charged and reused.

Traffic noise delays the growth of chicks 06.05.2024

The sounds that surround us in modern cities are becoming increasingly piercing. However, few people think about how this noise affects the animal world, especially such delicate creatures as chicks that have not yet hatched from their eggs. Recent research is shedding light on this issue, indicating serious consequences for their development and survival. Scientists have found that exposure of zebra diamondback chicks to traffic noise can cause serious disruption to their development. Experiments have shown that noise pollution can significantly delay their hatching, and those chicks that do emerge face a number of health-promoting problems. The researchers also found that the negative effects of noise pollution extend into the adult birds. Reduced chances of reproduction and decreased fertility indicate the long-term effects that traffic noise has on wildlife. The study results highlight the need ... >>

A New Way to Control and Manipulate Optical Signals 05.05.2024

The modern world of science and technology is developing rapidly, and every day new methods and technologies appear that open up new prospects for us in various fields. One such innovation is the development by German scientists of a new way to control optical signals, which could lead to significant progress in the field of photonics. Recent research has allowed German scientists to create a tunable waveplate inside a fused silica waveguide. This method, based on the use of a liquid crystal layer, allows one to effectively change the polarization of light passing through a waveguide. This technological breakthrough opens up new prospects for the development of compact and efficient photonic devices capable of processing large volumes of data. The electro-optical control of polarization provided by the new method could provide the basis for a new class of integrated photonic devices. This opens up great opportunities for ... >>

Primium Seneca keyboard 05.05.2024

Keyboards are an integral part of our daily computer work. However, one of the main problems that users face is noise, especially in the case of premium models. But with the new Seneca keyboard from Norbauer & Co, that may change. Seneca is not just a keyboard, it is the result of five years of development work to create the ideal device. Every aspect of this keyboard, from acoustic properties to mechanical characteristics, has been carefully considered and balanced. One of the key features of Seneca is its silent stabilizers, which solve the noise problem common to many keyboards. In addition, the keyboard supports various key widths, making it convenient for any user. Although Seneca is not yet available for purchase, it is scheduled for release in late summer. Norbauer & Co's Seneca represents new standards in keyboard design. Her ... >>

The world's tallest astronomical observatory opened 04.05.2024

Exploring space and its mysteries is a task that attracts the attention of astronomers from all over the world. In the fresh air of the high mountains, far from city light pollution, the stars and planets reveal their secrets with greater clarity. A new page is opening in the history of astronomy with the opening of the world's highest astronomical observatory - the Atacama Observatory of the University of Tokyo. The Atacama Observatory, located at an altitude of 5640 meters above sea level, opens up new opportunities for astronomers in the study of space. This site has become the highest location for a ground-based telescope, providing researchers with a unique tool for studying infrared waves in the Universe. Although the high altitude location provides clearer skies and less interference from the atmosphere, building an observatory on a high mountain poses enormous difficulties and challenges. However, despite the difficulties, the new observatory opens up broad research prospects for astronomers. ... >>

Portable camera with support for SD memory cards 10.01.2004

Deja View has released a portable camera Camwear Model 100 with support for Toshiba NAND Flash SD memory cards.

A compact digital camera is attached to clothes and constantly takes a panorama with a viewing angle of 60 degrees and saves it to the buffer. By pressing the record button, the last 30 seconds of video or audio are recorded to the removable storage. Video is saved at 320x240 pixel resolution in MPEG-4 30 frames per second format and saved to an SD memory card.

The Camwear Model 100 costs $400 and comes with a 64MB memory card, up to 512MB memory cards, and a 2000mAh Li-Ion battery. Phone-powder box Panasonic has released a mobile phone exclusively for ladies: the device at first glance strongly resembles an ordinary powder box.

The model was named G70 and, of course, does not pretend to be the most functional phone - there is not even support for the popular MMS service. But there is a function specifically for the fair sex: as soon as the backlight turns off, the screen turns into a mirror.

Note the characteristics of the G70: work in networks GSM 900/1800/1900 MHz; support for EMS, SMS and GRPS; polyphony for 16 voices; screen with a resolution of 128x96; talk time - 3...5 hours, standby time - up to 200 hours; dimensions - 88x60x27 mm.
