Sony PlayStation Portable 2

Sony held the PlayStation Meeting event, where they announced a new generation of portable game consoles. The device has not yet been officially named, and it appears under the code name NGP (Next Generation Portable). Naturally, the public will continue to call it PSP2.

The console is made in the form of a monoblock, equipped with a 5-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 960x544 pixels. There are two touch panels: one on the display and one on the back.

A significant difference is the presence of a second analog mini-joystick. A 4-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor is selected as the CPU, and the SGX543MP4 + chip is responsible for the graphics.

A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. The study, led by materials scientist Lei Jiang, found that at different temperatures, ethanol and water molecules form different types of clusters, which affects the perception of alcoholic taste. Raising organic pigs 20.03.2013

A research team from the University of Guelph (Canada) has developed a new line of transgenic pigs. The new line of animals is called Cassie and reliably transmits genes that change the enzyme composition of saliva. Thanks to this, pigs were able to absorb phosphorus in an amount "not provided" by nature.

Phosphorus is critical for the healthy growth of pigs. Unfortunately, 50 to 70% of the phosphorus in feed crops is in the form of phytic acid, which pigs cannot digest. In this regard, many farmers use the enzyme phytase as an additive to feed. This enzyme breaks down phytic acid, helping animals absorb more nutrients and therefore gain weight faster. However, phytase is expensive and must be handled with care, otherwise the enzyme is destroyed and does not provide any beneficial effect.

A new breed of transgenic pigs Cassie synthesizes phytase directly in their salivary glands. This eliminates the need for additives and enzymes. Moreover, pigs absorb phosphorus better, which means that their waste contains less of this substance that clogs the environment.

Thus, genetic engineering in agriculture has reached another important milestone. It was possible to overcome the natural limitations of a living organism, accelerate its growth and reduce collateral environmental damage. So far, Cassie pig meat has not hit the shelves, as more research is being done on its characteristics. However, scientists are confident that the new pork will be safe for humans. For sure, the Cassie line of animals will become widespread, and genetic engineers will continue to improve the animals.
