Employees of the Laboratory of Friction and System Dynamics from Lyon (France) have created a laser device that allows cosmetologists to accurately track the effect of creams, masks, lotions and other products that eliminate wrinkles.

The thinnest laser beam glides over the surface of the skin, its reflection is captured by four photodiodes. The result is a three-dimensional map of the skin area with relief lines every 10 micrometers.

By repeating such measurements, one can evaluate the effectiveness of a cosmetic product not by eye, as has been done so far, but in exact numbers.
