FMS6151 ICs for communication of cell phones with large screens

21.02.2006

Fairchild Semiconductor has introduced a miniaturized integrated video frequency amplifier and filter designed to transmit a cell phone image to a TV, computer monitor, or other large display.

The fifth-order filter used in the chip is said to provide high image quality when viewed on standard definition devices, and the low current consumption (3,8 mA in operation and 25 nA in idle state) has a positive effect on battery consumption of the phone.

The product is housed in a microscopic MicroPak package with 6 pins, its size is only 1,45x1,0x0,55 mm, which gives the developers reason to call the FMS6151 the smallest device in its class. Obviously, the tiny size will please the designers of mobile technology. The price of the microcircuit is 35 cents in a batch of 1000 pieces. Evaluation samples and demo boards are currently available.

By the way, according to some estimates, in 2006 in the US, cell phone owners will be able to receive about 20 TV channels, and the number of devices with video data reception function released this year will reach 80 million units. Thus, according to Fairchild Semiconductor, the function of viewing programs stored in the phone's memory on a large screen will be more and more in demand.

In addition to cell phones, FMS6151 can be used in cameras, PDAs, universal media players.

The existence of an entropy rule for quantum entanglement has been proven 09.05.2024

Quantum mechanics continues to amaze us with its mysterious phenomena and unexpected discoveries. Recently, Bartosz Regula from the RIKEN Center for Quantum Computing and Ludovico Lamy from the University of Amsterdam presented a new discovery that concerns quantum entanglement and its relation to entropy. Quantum entanglement plays an important role in modern quantum information science and technology. However, the complexity of its structure makes understanding and managing it challenging. Regulus and Lamy's discovery shows that quantum entanglement follows an entropy rule similar to that for classical systems. This discovery opens new perspectives in the field of quantum information science and technology, deepening our understanding of quantum entanglement and its connection to thermodynamics. The results of the study indicate the possibility of reversibility of entanglement transformations, which could greatly simplify their use in various quantum technologies. Opening a new rule ... >>

New method for creating powerful batteries 08.05.2024

With the development of technology and the expanding use of electronics, the issue of creating efficient and safe energy sources is becoming increasingly urgent. Researchers at the University of Queensland have unveiled a new approach to creating high-power zinc-based batteries that could change the landscape of the energy industry. One of the main problems with traditional water-based rechargeable batteries was their low voltage, which limited their use in modern devices. But thanks to a new method developed by scientists, this drawback has been successfully overcome. As part of their research, scientists turned to a special organic compound - catechol. It turned out to be an important component that can improve battery stability and increase its efficiency. This approach has led to a significant increase in the voltage of zinc-ion batteries, making them more competitive. According to scientists, such batteries have several advantages. They have b ... >>

Alcohol content of warm beer 07.05.2024

Beer, as one of the most common alcoholic drinks, has its own unique taste, which can change depending on the temperature of consumption. A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. The study, led by materials scientist Lei Jiang, found that at different temperatures, ethanol and water molecules form different types of clusters, which affects the perception of alcoholic taste. At low temperatures, more pyramid-like clusters form, which reduces the pungency of the "ethanol" taste and makes the drink taste less alcoholic. On the contrary, as the temperature increases, the clusters become more chain-like, resulting in a more pronounced alcoholic taste. This explains why the taste of some alcoholic drinks, such as baijiu, can change depending on temperature. The data obtained opens up new prospects for beverage manufacturers, ... >>

Self-contained cooling cloth 11.09.2016

A group of scientists from Stanford University has developed a new type of plastic. Thanks to the pores, it can cool the surfaces enclosed in it without additional devices.

How to create clothes in which a person will never get hot? The human body radiates heat in the form of infrared waves. Therefore, the cooling fabric must allow infrared radiation to pass through and not allow heat radiation from the outside to pass through. The materials that exist today, which are used in the textile industry to produce "cooling" sportswear, only begin to work when your body releases moisture.

Unlike such moisture-dependent materials, nanoporous polyethylene is exactly what it is supposed to be: heat waves in the visible spectrum do not pass through it, so sunlight does not heat the skin covered by it. And the heat that radiates from the human body passes through it unhindered. The secret lies in the special placement of nanopores in the material and their size (50 to 1000). In the first experiments, the temperature of the device simulating the heat of the human body under the nanomaterial layer was 2,7 - 2,0 degrees lower than under the cotton cloth layer.
