The German chemical company Bayer, together with the electrical engineering company Siemens, has developed a composite polyurethane foam material, on the basis of which sound panels with a thickness of 7 millimeters are made, built directly into the walls of any room.

Sound vibrations are transmitted to the panel from a coil, such as a conventional speaker head, glued to it. The room is no longer cluttered with bulky stereo speakers. This makes the sound richer, achieving a full surround effect. True, it is undesirable to hang carpets or paintings on a sounding wall.

A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. The study, led by materials scientist Lei Jiang, found that at different temperatures, ethanol and water molecules form different types of clusters, which affects the perception of alcoholic taste. At low temperatures, more pyramid-like clusters form, which reduces the pungency of the "ethanol" taste and makes the drink taste less alcoholic. Computer games are becoming an increasingly popular form of entertainment among teenagers, but the associated risk of gaming addiction remains a significant problem. American scientists conducted a study to determine the main factors contributing to this addiction and offer recommendations for its prevention. Over the course of six years, 385 teenagers were followed to find out what factors may predispose them to gambling addiction. The results showed that 90% of study participants were not at risk of addiction, while 10% became gambling addicts. It turned out that the key factor in the onset of gambling addiction is a low level of prosocial behavior. Orbital X-ray Observatory Einstein Probe 05.04.2022

A joint project between China and the European Space Agency - the orbital X-ray observatory Einstein Probe ("Einstein Probe") - has begun to materialize. Recently, at a meeting of the National Space Science Center (NSSC) at the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), the start of assembly, integration and testing of the spacecraft was approved with a plan to launch it into space in 2023.

The Einstein Probe will look for signs of the strongest cosmic X-ray disturbances that occur during tidal phenomena in the zone of black holes, during supernova explosions and in the event of other energy releases in the observed electromagnetic wave range.

Two X-ray telescopes will observe the sky: a Chinese wide-angle WXT (Wide-field X-ray telescope) with a field of view of 1345 square degrees, and a European tracking telescope FXT (Follow-up X-ray Telescope) with a very high sensitivity. The wide-angle telescope WXT will be built on the basis of the so-called "lobster eye" optical system, which is characterized by the absence of refractive lenses. For observations in the X-ray range, this is the most reasonable solution, since X-rays cannot be refracted and can only be reflected in order to be brought into focus.

The Einstein Probe observatory will be launched into orbit either in the middle of next year or at the end of it. The probe weighing about 1400 kg will be launched into orbit with an inclination of less than 30 degrees to an altitude of 600 to 650 km. As we said above, the flare observatory during tidal destruction of stars will search for massive black holes, establish sources of gravitational bursts (in the electromagnetic range), determine the sources of gamma-ray bursts, shock waves in supernovae, and also study X-ray binaries, coronal flares on stars and explore the cores of galaxies.
