A simple invention of two American fishing enthusiasts, patented in 1993, will not find a manufacturer or investor.

The device that exists in one copy is a gas lantern placed on a round float. The device is anchored in the evening in a pond, the lamp is lit. Bugs, moths and other insects flock to the light, many of them, burning their wings, fall into the water.

Automatic readers for biometric passports 29.06.2014

Franz Liszt International Airport in Budapest announced the start of checking biometric documents using automatic readers.

The so-called e-Gate system consists of a contact fingerprint reader and biometric documents, an automated system and a database. In order to pass a document check, a citizen needs to insert an ID-card (his biometric passport) into the reader, and then put his index finger on the mini-scanner.

The system is able to read fingerprints in 20-30 seconds and compare them with the information stored on the electronic chip of the passport. If the check is passed, a boarding pass is printed. The entire verification procedure, according to the head of the airport police, is very fast and takes no more than a minute.

Passport data reading can be even faster if the passenger regularly crosses the Hungarian border using airlines. At the first reading, the data is stored in the airport database, fixing the border crossing by the traveler. After that, they no longer need to be saved again. Verification of biometric documents is carried out after checking tickets and baggage during check-in.
