Lyrics become simpler

Musical lyrics play a significant role in culture and are an important source of expression of feelings and thoughts for artists and their listeners. Recent studies based on an extensive database of songs from various genres and time periods have revealed interesting trends in changes in the structure and content of the lyrics of musical works.

The results of an analysis of 12 thousand English-language songs from the five most popular genres from 1980 to 2020 showed that the lyrics became simpler and easier to understand. This manifested itself in a decrease in the number of words in songs, especially in the rock and rap genres. Scientists believe this may be due to changes in the way people consume music, for example by listening to it in the background while studying or working.

To better understand trends in music lyrics, the researchers analyzed the lyrics of 2 English-language songs in the genres of rap, country, pop, R&B and rock. They found not only that the texts became simpler, but also that they became more emotional and personal. Anger-related words increased across all genres. However, rap has increased the number of words associated with positive emotions, and R&B, pop and country music have increased the number of words associated with negative emotions.

Separately, it should be noted that the lyrics have become more readable by the audience. Researchers have found that older rock songs are read more often than new ones on the Genius lyrics platform. But in the case of country music, the opposite is true - newer songs are read more often than older ones. This is likely due to audience preferences and their interest in different periods in music history.

Research into the evolution of song lyrics shows that music remains a reflection of cultural changes and audience preferences. Understanding these trends not only helps us better understand the music industry, but also reflects changes in society and human psychology.

Tunguska meteorite - once in a thousand years 14.12.2003

Over the past eight years, from February 1994 to September 2002, American reconnaissance satellites in geostationary orbits and covering almost the entire surface of the Earth with their observation have registered 300 cases of small asteroids invading the earth's atmosphere.

The main task of this system is to detect possible atomic explosions, but, having not found any, the military shared data on flashes similar to explosions with astronomers. Asteroids with a diameter of 50-100 meters crashed into the atmosphere at a speed of several tens of kilometers per second.

New data forced astronomers to reconsider the frequency of collisions of such celestial wanderers with the Earth. It turns out that a celestial body bursts into the atmosphere once a year, capable of releasing energy corresponding to 5 kilotons of TNT, and such cases as the Tunguska catastrophe (an explosion with a force of 10 megatons) can occur only about once every thousand years.

Until now, based on ground-based observations, experts believed that Tunguska-type meteorites could fall once every 200-300 years.
