Hybrid electric bicycles Cube Fold Hybrid

14.10.2023

Cube has unveiled its latest innovation in the world of bicycles - the Cube Fold Hybrid models, available in both Fold Hybrid and Fold Sport Hybrid variants.

The Fold Hybrid model represents the most practical version of the bike. It is equipped with a Bosch Active Plus mid-range motor, which, although less powerful than the Bosch Performance Line motor, provides excellent performance. The bike is powered by a 500 Wh Bosch Power Pack 500 battery, which brings up to 25% additional range compared to previous versions.

The Fold Hybrid comes with a Shimano Nexus five-speed hub, belt drive, and a sturdy frame for load-carrying capabilities. The frame is adjustable to accommodate riders from 1,58m to 1,89m in height. The Fold Hybrid weighs 25kg and has a special handle for easy portability.

The Fold Sport Hybrid model offers a 10-speed Shimano Tiagra group, standard for entry-level road bikes. Accessories for the Cube Fold Hybrid bikes include fender guards, rear rack, lights and front rack.

The Fold Hybrid is priced at $3300, while the Fold Sport Hybrid is available for $3669.

Cube Fold Hybrid bikes are currently available in limited quantities exclusively in Europe.

A New Way to Control and Manipulate Optical Signals 05.05.2024

The modern world of science and technology is developing rapidly, and every day new methods and technologies appear that open up new prospects for us in various fields. One such innovation is the development by German scientists of a new way to control optical signals, which could lead to significant progress in the field of photonics. Recent research has allowed German scientists to create a tunable waveplate inside a fused silica waveguide. This method, based on the use of a liquid crystal layer, allows one to effectively change the polarization of light passing through a waveguide. This technological breakthrough opens up new prospects for the development of compact and efficient photonic devices capable of processing large volumes of data. The electro-optical control of polarization provided by the new method could provide the basis for a new class of integrated photonic devices. This opens up great opportunities for ... >>

Primium Seneca keyboard 05.05.2024

Keyboards are an integral part of our daily computer work. However, one of the main problems that users face is noise, especially in the case of premium models. But with the new Seneca keyboard from Norbauer & Co, that may change. Seneca is not just a keyboard, it is the result of five years of development work to create the ideal device. Every aspect of this keyboard, from acoustic properties to mechanical characteristics, has been carefully considered and balanced. One of the key features of Seneca is its silent stabilizers, which solve the noise problem common to many keyboards. In addition, the keyboard supports various key widths, making it convenient for any user. Although Seneca is not yet available for purchase, it is scheduled for release in late summer. Norbauer & Co's Seneca represents new standards in keyboard design. Her ... >>

The world's tallest astronomical observatory opened 04.05.2024

Exploring space and its mysteries is a task that attracts the attention of astronomers from all over the world. In the fresh air of the high mountains, far from city light pollution, the stars and planets reveal their secrets with greater clarity. A new page is opening in the history of astronomy with the opening of the world's highest astronomical observatory - the Atacama Observatory of the University of Tokyo. The Atacama Observatory, located at an altitude of 5640 meters above sea level, opens up new opportunities for astronomers in the study of space. This site has become the highest location for a ground-based telescope, providing researchers with a unique tool for studying infrared waves in the Universe. Although the high altitude location provides clearer skies and less interference from the atmosphere, building an observatory on a high mountain poses enormous difficulties and challenges. However, despite the difficulties, the new observatory opens up broad research prospects for astronomers. ... >>

Controlling objects using air currents 04.05.2024

The development of robotics continues to open up new prospects for us in the field of automation and control of various objects. Recently, Finnish scientists presented an innovative approach to controlling humanoid robots using air currents. This method promises to revolutionize the way objects are manipulated and open new horizons in the field of robotics. The idea of controlling objects using air currents is not new, but until recently, implementing such concepts remained a challenge. Finnish researchers have developed an innovative method that allows robots to manipulate objects using special air jets as "air fingers". The air flow control algorithm, developed by a team of specialists, is based on a thorough study of the movement of objects in the air flow. The air jet control system, carried out using special motors, allows you to direct objects without resorting to physical ... >>

Purebred dogs get sick no more often than purebred dogs 03.05.2024

Caring for the health of our pets is an important aspect of the life of every dog owner. However, there is a common assumption that purebred dogs are more susceptible to diseases compared to mixed dogs. New research led by researchers at the Texas School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences brings new perspective to this question. A study conducted by the Dog Aging Project (DAP) of more than 27 companion dogs found that purebred and mixed dogs were generally equally likely to experience various diseases. Although some breeds may be more susceptible to certain diseases, the overall diagnosis rate is virtually the same between both groups. The Dog Aging Project's chief veterinarian, Dr. Keith Creevy, notes that there are several well-known diseases that are more common in certain breeds of dogs, which supports the notion that purebred dogs are more susceptible to disease. ... >>

Freescale starts selling MRAM chips 28.08.2006

Freescale Semiconductor announced the start of sales of magnetoresistive MRAM microchips. MRAM (Magnetoresistive Random Access Memory) combines the advantages of dynamic and flash memory. MRAM chips have a short access time and at the same time are non-volatile, that is, they can store information in the absence of power.

In addition, unlike flash memory, MRAM chips do not degrade over time. Many companies are involved in research in the field of magnetoresistive memory. For example, in February this year, NEC and Toshiba demonstrated an MRAM microchip with a record read/write speed of 200 Mb/s. However, Freescale Semiconductor was the first to bring MRAM chips to the market.

Chips Freescale received the designation MR2A16A. They have a capacity of 4 Mbit and operate at a supply voltage of 3,3 V. The chips are manufactured at a facility in Arizona. Freescale notes that MRAM research has taken about a decade, with more than a hundred patents filed.

Due to its versatility, MRAM memory can be used in a wide variety of computer and consumer devices. It can replace the RAM in a PC, as well as the now widespread flash memory in digital cameras, players and handhelds.

According to the Associated Press, citing statements by representatives of Freescale, the company already has customers, but their names were not disclosed. By the way, Freescale itself does not intend to mass-produce MRAM chips in the future and is going to license the technology to third-party manufacturers.
