Beet juice will fool mosquitoes

A Swedish startup has found a way to fool mosquitoes with toxic beetroot juice, which the insects mistake for blood and die.

The new invention, according to experts, is environmentally friendly. It can help prevent the spread of many dangerous diseases that mosquitoes carry, such as malaria, Zika virus, yellow fever, West Nile fever.

Special studies have found that blood containing the malaria virus is more likely to attract insects because they are attracted to the odor emitted by the NMVR molecule. According to the researchers, if this molecule is in a liquid containing a certain pH, mosquitoes will drink it.

Specialists have created a substance based on beetroot juice and HMBP with the addition of plant toxins. Insects, attracted by the smell, drink the substance, mistaking it for blood. As a result, they simply die.

You can choose any juice that is used as a base. In addition, the method of poisoning mosquitoes with such a mixture can replace insecticides, which pose a risk to human health and the environment.
