6-channel light sensor VD6283TX

16.08.2021

The new VD6283TX45/1 from STMicroelectronics is the smallest (1,83 x 1,0 x 0,55 mm) 6-channel Ambient Light Sensor (ALS) on the market. Light measurements are fast and accurate with separate ADCs and sensing circuitry for each color channel (red, green, blue, IR, flicker and visible). The VD6283 uses high performance hybrid color filters to accurately calculate correlated color temperature (CCT) and luminance information.

VD6283 can be used to control display brightness or to correct lighting. With a patented architecture and high performance photodiode design, the VD6283T can detect the frequency of light flickering. In addition, the VD6283 is the only sensor capable of detecting flicker from 100 Hz to 2 kHz simultaneously with light measurement operations.

The sensor is designed to work with the host via the I2C interface. The client host application controls the VD6283 using a software driver that provides an API (Application Programming Interface). This is a set of high level functions that allow the user to interact with the VD6283 without worrying about register level control. The API set includes start/stop, ALS measurement, color channel selection, flicker detection and/or ALS detection activation, exposure time setting, or analog gain setting.

Ready-made VD6283TX-SATEL modules can be used for easy integration into the product under development. Thanks to the voltage regulator and level shifting IC, VD6283TX-SATEL breakout boards can be used in any application with 1,8V to 5V supply. in devices powered by 6283 V. This simplifies the integration of VD1,8TX-SATEL switching boards into the designed device due to their small size.

Features:

VD6283 6-channel Ambient Light Sensor (ALS) with advanced flicker reduction.
Built-in voltage regulator.
VD6283 signal interface level converter.
A split board that can be easily integrated into a user device.

The existence of an entropy rule for quantum entanglement has been proven 09.05.2024

Quantum mechanics continues to amaze us with its mysterious phenomena and unexpected discoveries. Recently, Bartosz Regula from the RIKEN Center for Quantum Computing and Ludovico Lamy from the University of Amsterdam presented a new discovery that concerns quantum entanglement and its relation to entropy. Quantum entanglement plays an important role in modern quantum information science and technology. However, the complexity of its structure makes understanding and managing it challenging. Regulus and Lamy's discovery shows that quantum entanglement follows an entropy rule similar to that for classical systems. This discovery opens new perspectives in the field of quantum information science and technology, deepening our understanding of quantum entanglement and its connection to thermodynamics. The results of the study indicate the possibility of reversibility of entanglement transformations, which could greatly simplify their use in various quantum technologies. Opening a new rule ... >>

New method for creating powerful batteries 08.05.2024

With the development of technology and the expanding use of electronics, the issue of creating efficient and safe energy sources is becoming increasingly urgent. Researchers at the University of Queensland have unveiled a new approach to creating high-power zinc-based batteries that could change the landscape of the energy industry. One of the main problems with traditional water-based rechargeable batteries was their low voltage, which limited their use in modern devices. But thanks to a new method developed by scientists, this drawback has been successfully overcome. As part of their research, scientists turned to a special organic compound - catechol. It turned out to be an important component that can improve battery stability and increase its efficiency. This approach has led to a significant increase in the voltage of zinc-ion batteries, making them more competitive. According to scientists, such batteries have several advantages. They have b ... >>

Alcohol content of warm beer 07.05.2024

Beer, as one of the most common alcoholic drinks, has its own unique taste, which can change depending on the temperature of consumption. A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. The study, led by materials scientist Lei Jiang, found that at different temperatures, ethanol and water molecules form different types of clusters, which affects the perception of alcoholic taste. At low temperatures, more pyramid-like clusters form, which reduces the pungency of the "ethanol" taste and makes the drink taste less alcoholic. On the contrary, as the temperature increases, the clusters become more chain-like, resulting in a more pronounced alcoholic taste. This explains why the taste of some alcoholic drinks, such as baijiu, can change depending on temperature. The data obtained opens up new prospects for beverage manufacturers, ... >>

Bananas under threat 24.04.2021

A highly infectious, chemical-resistant soil fungus is the reason bananas are endangered.

Tropical Race 4 (TR4) disease was first detected back in 2019 in South America, the world's main supplier of bananas. Subsequently, some plantations in Honduras and Colombia closed, as contaminated soil on a farmer's shoes could lead to a general spread of infection.

We are talking about 30-40 years of idleness of the affected areas. TR4 primarily affects Cavendish and accounts for about 95 percent of global trade. But bananas are one of the main products in the retail trade, so the increase in prices for them can be critical.

This product is very important in the daily diet in many African and Asian countries, like potatoes and rice. Prior to this, some retail chains have already encountered difficulties in buying bananas, as they described a poor harvest in Ecuador, seasonal high demand and the inability of importers to provide the necessary supply volumes.
