Video camera for animals with built-in feeder

08.07.2021

The Ukrainian company Petcube has introduced a new animal care chamber with a built-in Petcube Bites 2 Lite feeder. The device allows pet owners to care for their pets remotely via smartphone, as well as hear and talk to them.

Bites 2 Lite transmits HD video in 1080p quality to the user's smartphone through a 160° wide-angle lens, has 8x digital zoom and night vision up to 9 meters in the dark. In addition, the camera provides two-way audio communication, allowing you to hear what is happening in the room and talk with your pet.

The camera has a minimalist design that will fit almost any interior. Also this fall, Pecube will release colored treat containers. As an optional accessory, it will be possible to purchase a pink, blue or orange hopper, made of hard plastic, making them safe even for large dogs.

Petcube Bites 2 Lite uses the same mobile applications as the company's other products - Petcube Bites 2, Petcube Play 2 and Petcube Cam. Users can easily switch between different devices and share camera access with family and friends.

The existence of an entropy rule for quantum entanglement has been proven 09.05.2024

Quantum mechanics continues to amaze us with its mysterious phenomena and unexpected discoveries. Recently, Bartosz Regula from the RIKEN Center for Quantum Computing and Ludovico Lamy from the University of Amsterdam presented a new discovery that concerns quantum entanglement and its relation to entropy. Quantum entanglement plays an important role in modern quantum information science and technology. However, the complexity of its structure makes understanding and managing it challenging. Regulus and Lamy's discovery shows that quantum entanglement follows an entropy rule similar to that for classical systems. This discovery opens new perspectives in the field of quantum information science and technology, deepening our understanding of quantum entanglement and its connection to thermodynamics. The results of the study indicate the possibility of reversibility of entanglement transformations, which could greatly simplify their use in various quantum technologies. Opening a new rule ... >>

Energy from space for Starship 08.05.2024

Producing solar energy in space is becoming more feasible with the advent of new technologies and the development of space programs. The head of the startup Virtus Solis shared his vision of using SpaceX's Starship to create orbital power plants capable of powering the Earth. Startup Virtus Solis has unveiled an ambitious project to create orbital power plants using SpaceX's Starship. This idea could significantly change the field of solar energy production, making it more accessible and cheaper. The core of the startup's plan is to reduce the cost of launching satellites into space using Starship. This technological breakthrough is expected to make solar energy production in space more competitive with traditional energy sources. Virtual Solis plans to build large photovoltaic panels in orbit, using Starship to deliver the necessary equipment. However, one of the key challenges ... >>

New method for creating powerful batteries 08.05.2024

With the development of technology and the expanding use of electronics, the issue of creating efficient and safe energy sources is becoming increasingly urgent. Researchers at the University of Queensland have unveiled a new approach to creating high-power zinc-based batteries that could change the landscape of the energy industry. One of the main problems with traditional water-based rechargeable batteries was their low voltage, which limited their use in modern devices. But thanks to a new method developed by scientists, this drawback has been successfully overcome. As part of their research, scientists turned to a special organic compound - catechol. It turned out to be an important component that can improve battery stability and increase its efficiency. This approach has led to a significant increase in the voltage of zinc-ion batteries, making them more competitive. According to scientists, such batteries have several advantages. They have b ... >>

Alcohol content of warm beer 07.05.2024

Beer, as one of the most common alcoholic drinks, has its own unique taste, which can change depending on the temperature of consumption. A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. The study, led by materials scientist Lei Jiang, found that at different temperatures, ethanol and water molecules form different types of clusters, which affects the perception of alcoholic taste. At low temperatures, more pyramid-like clusters form, which reduces the pungency of the "ethanol" taste and makes the drink taste less alcoholic. On the contrary, as the temperature increases, the clusters become more chain-like, resulting in a more pronounced alcoholic taste. This explains why the taste of some alcoholic drinks, such as baijiu, can change depending on temperature. The data obtained opens up new prospects for beverage manufacturers, ... >>

xCORE-Audio sound processors 30.03.2015

XMOS recently announced the start of deliveries of not only 16-core XMOS xCORE-200 microcontrollers with Gigabit Ethernet support, designed for IoT devices, but also sound processors of the xCORE-Audio family.

According to the manufacturer, these processors are designed to meet the requirements of both consumer devices and equipment designed for professionals. The family includes two branches. xCORE-Audio Hi-Res processors are more suitable for consumer stereo and multi-channel devices, while xCORE-Audio Live processors are more suitable for high-end consumer devices and professional equipment, including mixing consoles.

xCORE-Audio processors support PCM and DSD, sampling rates 44,1, 48, 88,2, 96, 176,4, 192 and 352,8 and 384 kHz (the manufacturer promises to add support for 768 kHz soon), 16-, 24 - and 32-bit data representation. The common features of representatives of both lines include the presence of USB and SPDIF inputs, I2S, SPDIF, DSD / DoP outputs, as well as an analog output.

Representatives of the Hi-Res line will be produced with the number of channels 2, 2.1, 5.1, 7.1. Trial samples of the Hi-Res 2 stereo processor are still available. The cost of its serial copies will not exceed $2. An evaluation board is already available for this processor.

The first representatives of the Live line should appear in April. These processors will be available in 4, 8 and 16 channel variants. In addition to the inputs and outputs listed above, they have an ADAT input, ADAT and MIDI outputs.

For the external design of the xCORE-Audio sound processors, TQFP-type cases were chosen. The OS compatible list includes Android, Windows and Mac OS X.
