Video cards with hardware limitation of mining

Galax has released the GeForce RTX 3080 and GeForce RTX 3070 General FG LHR, which have mining protection installed at the hardware level. The video cards are equipped with new GPUs with a built-in hardware limiter for mining the Ethereum cryptocurrency.

Such graphics accelerators are not able to give maximum performance when used in the farm, but will allow gamers to get the most out of the game mode.

Galax previously presented exactly the same models of FG series video cards, but without a mining limiter. Versions are delivered in packages that do not distinguish new items from previous versions. That is, the manufacturer does not mention the fact that video cards are equipped with a mining limiter.

It is planned that the previously released GeForce RTX 3060/3060 Ti, as well as the RTX 3070 and RTX 3080, will soon receive an update in the form of hardware protection against mining. At the same time, the RTX 3070 Ti and RTX 3080 Ti will initially acquire such a function. It will automatically reduce the performance of video cards in cryptocurrency mining to the level of inexpensive solutions.

Galax reports 25 MH/s and 43 MH/s for the RTX 3070 and RTX 3080 respectively. The normal performance of the cards in mining is about twice as high.
