The American company MicroSalt has created an improved salt formula, which contains 50% less sodium. The product is positioned as more beneficial to health

The developer describes his product as "particles coated with nanosized salt crystals." The carrier (usually maltodextrin) acts as a transport molecule to deliver small salt crystals. These crystals are naturally attached to the carrier using electrostatic forces. The salt dissolves almost immediately due to the extremely small size of the crystals.

The updated salt formula is about 100 times smaller than the traditional salt formula and requires less to achieve the same level of flavor.

The company claims that the new product has the same level of salinity compared to the traditional one, it contains 50% less sodium. In the future - to increase this figure to 80%.

The company has already patented its technology and started collecting investments through crowdfunding.

Radioactivity of mineral water 02.11.2004

Chemists from the University of Veszprem (Hungary) measured the radioactivity of some brands of Hungarian mineral waters.

It turned out that three of the 18 varieties of mineral waters sold in stores contained fairly high concentrations of radium-226. Regular consumption of this water can exceed the safety limit recommended by the World Health Organization. A person who drinks at least a liter of such water per day can receive a dose of one hundred microsieverts per year.

The initiator of the study, Tibor Kovacs, says that radioactive water is especially dangerous for children aged 12-17, since at this time their bones are actively growing, which radium harms.

Previous studies have shown that some mineral waters from Austria, Germany, France and Portugal also contain high levels of naturally occurring radionuclides.
