In Rus', from time immemorial, craftsmen have sharpened wooden utensils. If it was not supposed to be painted, then it was cut across the grain of the wood. In this case, the product turned out to be more beautiful than when processed along the fibers - the structure of the wood was better revealed.

I want to talk about a completely accessible process for making wooden utensils on any, including home-made, lathe - there would only be centers in which the workpiece is installed, and a jamb-cutter.

As practice has shown, it is better to use home-made cutters from flat files and needle files - their steel is harder than that of ordinary machine tools.

The most visual representation of the manufacturing process is given by the so-called technological map. Therefore, in this form, the sequence of operations and the tool used at each stage are outlined.

The sequence of operations for making a wooden vase and the tool used
1. Saw off a part 200 mm long from a block of wood and split it in half		Saw, ax
2. Plane the split surface		Plane
3. Mark the center of the circle and outline it		Ruler, compass
4. Saw off the corners of the workpiece		Hacksaw
5. Saw off the ends of the workpiece at an angle of 45 °		Hacksaw
6. In the center of the intended circle, drill a technological hole with a diameter of 5 mm to a depth of 10 mm		Drill, drill diameter 5
7. Install the workpiece in the machine		Machine tool, square
8. Turn the workpiece cavity with a cutter-jamb, leaving the technological rod		Machine, oblique cutter, emphasis
9. Turn the workpiece from the outside, giving it the shape of a bowl		Machine, oblique cutter, emphasis

Smart glasses Huawei X Gentle Monster EyeWear 06.04.2019
