ULZ is an electromechanical device consisting of a glass (metal) sound duct, passing through which the electrical signal is shifted relative to the original one for the duration of the wave passing through the sound duct.

In household REA, ultrasonic delay lines (ULZ) are used to delay the color signal in television receivers. The symbol for the type of delay line consists of three elements:

FIRST ELEMENT - three (four) letters. "ULZ" - ultrasonic delay line; "LZYA" - luminance delay line; "LZYAS" - luminance signal delay line.
SECOND ELEMENT - two (three) digits indicating the delay time in microseconds.
THIRD ELEMENT - digit (several digits): for ULZ - serial number of the development; and for LZYA (LZYAS) - wave impedance in Ohms. To designate delay lines, foreign firms use their own marking. The company "PHILIPS" denotes two letters "DL" (delay lines), which means "delay line" and two (three) digits indicating the serial number of the development
