The advantage of a soldering gun over a conventional soldering iron is that its working part heats up very quickly (1-5 s). This allows you to turn it on immediately before soldering the radio assembly.
The main part of the soldering iron is a step-down transformer. In its secondary winding, a current of several tens of amperes, which heats the copper bow - the working part of the soldering iron. A light bulb (6,3 V, 0,28 A) is provided to illuminate the soldering point. The soldering iron is turned on by a button located on the handle.

The core of the transformer is recruited from Sh-shaped iron Sh-26. Set - 16 mm. Iron Sh-20 can also be used. In this case, the set is 20 mm. For a mains voltage of 127 V, the transformer core is assembled from Sh-shaped iron Sh-26. The primary winding (860 turns) is wound with PEL wire 0,3-0,36. For a network of 220 V, the winding should have 1500 turns of PEL wire 0,22-0,25. The secondary power winding (5-6 turns) is made of copper foil with a section of 25 X 0,3 mm. The winding for a light bulb consists of 25 turns of PEL 0,25 wire.
The tip of the soldering iron can be made from a strip of copper about 1 mm thick or from copper wire. The dimensions of the tip are selected in a practical way. It should be remembered that the heating time and temperature depend on the cross section of the tip.
The two upper studs and nuts that tighten the core, as well as the current-carrying tires, should be carefully insulated with varnished cloth and textolite washers.
The soldering gun consumes about 75 watts. It can be used for soldering and brazing. Duration of continuous work 15-20 min.
