The power supply presented below, made using three-output integrated stabilizers, is quite versatile and can be successfully used to power microprocessor devices.

The source diagram is shown in fig. 5.72.

Three-channel stabilized power supply

One type 7805 integrated regulator (U1) provides a positive output voltage of 5 V at a nominal current of 1,5 A.

Stabilizers 7812 (U3) and 7813 (U2) provide bipolar output voltages, the values \u12b\u1,5bof which are equal to ±XNUMX V. The maximum output current of these channels is also XNUMX A.

The components of the circuit have the following parameters: electrolytic capacitor C1 - 10 microfarads, 000 V; electrolytic capacitors C35, C2 - 3 uF 7000 V; diodes VD35-VD1 - 6 V 50 A; fuse F3 - 1 A.

The source uses two identical transformers (TV1 and TV2), the secondary windings of which have midpoint taps, the total voltage on each of the secondary windings is 12,6 V, the rated current is 5 A.

The diagram shows that the primary windings of the transformers are connected in parallel, and the secondary windings are connected in series and in accordance to provide the input voltage levels required by the stabilizers U2 and U3.

The connection point of the secondary windings of the transformers is grounded. The lower half-winding of the secondary winding of the transformer TV1 and the upper half-winding of the secondary winding of the transformer TV2, together with the diodes VD1 and VD2 and the capacitive filter C1, form a full-wave rectifier with zero point output.

At the output of this rectifier, a positive voltage relative to ground is formed (about 9 V), which is the input for the integral stabilizer V1.

Complete secondary windings of transformers, diodes VD3-VD6 and capacitors C2, C3 are two full-wave rectifiers with a zero point output, one of which provides negative (on capacitor C2), and the other positive (on capacitor C3) voltage, the values \u17b\u2bof which are approximately equal ±1 V. These voltages are used as input voltages for regulators UXNUMX and UXNUMX. The common conclusions of all three stabilizers are "grounded".

Thus, the power supply has three output channels: one with a positive voltage of +5 V and two with equal but opposite voltages of ±12 V.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

New miniature PWM controller 19.01.2008

STMicroclectronics, the world's leading supplier of semiconductors for power management systems, has expanded its lineup with a new series of flexible and high performance PWM controllers.

New elements - L6726A, L6727, L6728, L6728A (in standard SO-8 or miniature 3x3mm DFN package) include voltage reference, control logic, GATE drivers, test and protection circuits. All four devices are designed for use on motherboards and for organizing a distributed power supply scheme (POL Point of Load).

Two models of these chips provide additional features for high performance applications. Firstly, this is the PowerGOOD output, which provides information about the status of the IS. Secondly, a special sensitive output for voltage overload protection and detection of voltage insufficient for operation.

The L6726A and L6727 are low cost, single-phase PWM controllers with built-in high current drivers. They make it quite easy to create DC/DC buck converters for a wide range of applications: from powering PC assemblies (memory, chipsets) to general purpose power supplies. Highly integrated, these compact devices can significantly reduce the cost and size of power supplies.
