The figure shows an extremely simple switching regulator circuit. Despite the fact that the stabilizer is assembled on an outdated microcircuit, it has rather high technical characteristics and will be of interest to everyone who has these microcircuits. The stabilizer circuit is shown in the figure. The device uses a very original inclusion of the KR142EN1 integrated stabilizer microcircuit, thanks to which it was possible to achieve good technical characteristics, with a very simple circuit design. The scheme provides high noise immunity and efficiency.

The power of the connected load is determined by the maximum collector current of the transistor VT1, which is: for the KT626A transistor - 0,5 A, and for the GT906A transistor - 5A. To increase the load capacity, parallel connection of transistors is allowed. The optimal conversion frequency (30-40 kHz) is set by selecting the inductor L1, at a given load current.

The resistance of the resistor R4 is selected based on the value of the expected operating load current, so at a current of 400 mA, its value should be 13 ohms, and at a current of 800 mA - 4.7 ohms. The capacitance of the capacitor C3 should be selected in the first case - at least 220 microfarads, and in the second - 470 microfarads. Next, the throttle is made. It must be remembered that at high load currents, the size of the ring and the inductance of the inductor increase. In order not to hear "itching" during the operation of the converter, it is necessary to wind the wire around the ring very tightly, pouring some kind of glue will not interfere. The smaller the capacitance of the capacitor C3, the more turns the inductor L1 should have. Below is an indicative table for choosing the main elements of the stabilizer. It should also be remembered that the higher the voltage at the input of the converter, the lower the inductance of the inductor should be. The exact setting of the output voltage of the stabilizer is carried out by the resistor R680E.

A wide range of development tools are available for the new processor cores, including support for MIPS64 r6 in the QEMU emulator.
