As you know, at present, almost all sound cards for personal computers (PCs) have an MlDl-interface (Roland MPU-401) that supports UART functions, to which any external MIDI device can be connected. More about this is described in [1]. With a software sequencer (such as Cakewalk Pro Audio), the PC can play a stream of MIDI commands. whose source is a file or an external controller. External MIDI devices and PC communicate with each other via an interface. Its official specification can be purchased at midi.org/, and a description in Russian can be found in [2].

The device is made on the i8751H microcontroller and assembled according to the scheme shown in fig. 1. SA1 adopts hexadecimal output drum switch (from CNC machine). It will completely replace the usual one with 16 positions and two directions with the K155IV1 encoder. One direction of such a switch is used to control the state of the P2.3 line of the DDI microcontroller. the other - the inputs of the encoder. In this case, the program must invert the data read from port P2 (in the blocks for forming the first byte of the MIDI message). Socket XS1 - ONTS-VG-5/16-R (SG5). Instead of J8751H, you can use a domestic single-chip microcomputer KP1816BE51.78L05 replaceable by KR142EN5A. KR142EN5V (at input voltage 8...15 V).

Simple MIDI Keyboard for PC

Key design - any. Read about the features of the mechanical device of factory-made keyboards in [3].

The text of the MID / -keyboard program is given in Table. 1, its codes are in table. 2. The program implements only the basic functions of the keyboard, but since only 2 bytes out of 200 KB of built-in ROM are used, if desired, you can add a key velocity sensor, a pedal, a transposition function (shift a few semitones up or down).

An adapter is required to connect the keyboard to a conventional sound card. The need for it is due to the fact that there is nowhere to place MIDI connectors in a PC, so the optocoupler isolation required by the standard and the interface converter to the "current loop" interface have to be moved to an external MIDI adapter. Schematic solutions for this node can be found in various newsgroups dedicated to MIDI and sound cards. It can also be assembled according to the scheme shown in Fig. 2.

As U1, it is permissible to use any diode optocoupler with a turn-on and turn-off delay of no more than 2 μs, a sensitivity of at least 5 mA and a TTL output (for example, K2S2KP1A). Connector XP1 - cable plug D15 (it is connected to the "Joystick" connector of the sound card). XS2 and XS5 - D15 sockets for printed wiring, necessary to maintain the ability to connect joysticks to the card (if this is not necessary, they are not installed). For the keyboard to work, you need to install the MIDI input driver that comes with your sound card.

Author's versions of the described devices are assembled on breadboards, printed circuit boards were not developed. The cable for connecting the controller to the adapter (the "MIDI OUT" sockets of the first and the "MIDI IN" of the second are connected) is made according to the 4-4, 2-2, 5-5 scheme (using ONTS-VG-5/16-V (SSh5) plugs) .

The check showed that with serviceable parts and no errors in the installation, the devices do not require adjustment and start working immediately after turning on the power. They were tested with Gravis Ultrasound Classic rev.3.71 sound cards. Gravis Ultrasound MAX. Gravis Ultrasound PnP and Creative SoundBlaster Live! value.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Solar lift with energy storage 09.12.2021

In the Italian city of Cuneo, located in the northern region of Piedmont, Italian photovoltaic module manufacturer FuturaSun has installed a solar energy storage system to power a panoramic elevator.

The pilot project is part of the Store4HUC program funded by the European Regional Development Fund and is the first of four projects developed in Austria, Croatia, Slovenia and Italy. The goal is to develop renewable energy production systems with sustainable storage in historic city centers across Europe.

In Cuneo, the newly installed elevator is an inclined system that rises to a height of 28 meters and connects the car park to the city centre. The elevator is powered not only by a solar installation and batteries, but also by the energy produced by the elevator itself during its movement due to the gravitational storage.

The photovoltaic plant, with a peak power of 8,84 kW, was connected to the grid in October and deployed along the path of the lift. It consists of 26 FuturaSun Next Pro monocrystalline photovoltaic panels with a power of 340 W and a size of 1 ? 684 mm from 1 PERC cells with semi-cut tires, with a total area of 002 square meters.

According to a FuturaSun press release, this initiative is one of the first at the national and European level "aimed at optimizing the use of energy resources in a fixed transport system." The plant is expected to receive some remuneration from the Italian energy agency Gestore dei Servizi Energetici.

The new system, "Green Public Mobility", reduces the elevator's energy consumption, resulting in both a reduction in government spending and a reduction in carbon emissions.
