Schematic diagram

Schematic diagram of the metal detector is shown in fig. 2.42. The reference oscillator of the metal detector is assembled according to the capacitive three-point circuit on the transistor T1. Loop coil L1 is the instrument's sensor. Capacitors C3-C6 are designed to tune the generator to a frequency of 50 kHz. Through the coupling capacitor C7, the sinusoidal voltage from the generator is supplied to the quartz filter.

The capacitance C7 is chosen small, thus the influence of subsequent stages on the operation of the generator is practically excluded. The threshold device is assembled on a field-effect transistor T2. The threshold voltage is set by the divider R5-R7. Capacitor C8 smoothes the pulsations on the IP1 indicator.

The R4C1 filter provides AC decoupling between the threshold and master oscillators.

metal detector sensor

The metal detector sensor is a rigid annular frame made of plexiglass, on which 65 turns of the PEL 0,2 passage are wound. The winding is enclosed in an aluminum foil screen and filled with epoxy resin. The sensor is connected to the measuring unit with a RK-75 coaxial cable.

Particular attention should be paid to the quality of the metal detector frame. It should be light in weight, tough and resilient. Otherwise, even with light shocks, inevitable when working with the device in the field, the frequency of the generator "leaves" - the metal detector is upset. The basis of the frame can serve as an annular frame made of plexiglass or polystyrene d = 300 mm. The winding must be shielded with aluminum foil 0,05 mm thick.

It is impossible to connect the ends of the screen to each other, otherwise a short-circuited coil is formed. The winding leads should be connected to the PK-75 cable 0,3-1 m long (connect the coil screen with the cable braid as well). This place then needs to be filled with epoxy. The connection between the sensor and the electronics unit must be permanent.

Opportunities and features of using a metal detector

The metal detector has a very high sensitivity. The indicator needle deviates by one division when the frame of the device approaches the iron disk with a diameter of 13 cm at a distance of 80 cm. And objects with a diameter of 3-5 cm give the same deviation of the arrow at a distance of 10-15 cm.

The device reacts almost equally to any metal. So, for example, steel, aluminum and brass disks give the same deviations of the arrow at equal distances. They do not depend on whether the object is solid or hollow.

When working with a metal detector, background noise must be taken into account.

Sandy and peaty soils, black soil, wood, water do not give a background signal. Therefore, the device works well in fresh water, in wooden buildings and on non-stony soils. A strong background gives a brick (baked clay has magnetic properties) and some minerals.

Changes in temperature also affect the readings of the instrument. Therefore, it is better to place the frame in a case made of a heat insulator, for example, foam. To work underwater, the metal detector sensor must first be held in water for 10-15 minutes and then set up the device.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Apples promote the growth of new neurons 19.02.2021

Natural compounds found in apples and a number of other fruits can stimulate the formation of new neurons. Such results were shown by a study conducted with mouse cells. Nature has taken care of us better than we think! As it turned out, even a simple apple can greatly affect brain function.

Scientists have long known that phytonutrients (chemicals found in plants) can have positive effects on various human organs, including the brain. Researchers at the University of Queensland in the US and the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases have found that high concentrations of phytonutrients from apples stimulate the generation of new neurons, a process called neurogenesis.

The study found that lab-grown adult mouse brain stem cells generate more neurons when they encounter quercetin or dihydroxybenzoic acid, phytonutrients found in apples. Follow-up tests in mice showed that in various adult brain structures associated with learning and memory, stem cells proliferated and generated more neurons when the animals were given high doses of quercetin or dihydroxybenzoic acid.

The effects on neurogenesis were comparable to those observed after physical activity, which also stimulates neurogenesis.
