A conventional compass is sensitive to a magnetic field. It is enough to carry the magnetized end of the screwdriver in front of him, as the arrow deviates. But, unfortunately, after that the arrow will swing for a long time. Therefore, it is not always convenient to use such an indicator. The need for such a measuring device often arises.

The indicator assembled from several parts turns out to be completely non-inertial and relatively sensitive. For example, they can determine the magnetization of a razor blade or a watch screwdriver.

The principle of operation of the indicator is extremely simple: if a magnetized object is carried near the coil, then some EMF will appear on its terminals, which only needs to be amplified and applied to the indicator, for example, to a lamp from a flashlight.

Magnetization Indicator / Indicator Circuit
Fig.1. Schematic diagram of the magnetization indicator

Figure 1 shows a schematic diagram of the indicator. The sensor is an L1 coil wound on a steel core. It is connected through the capacitor C1 to the amplifying stage, made on the transistor VT1. The operation mode of the cascade is set by resistors R1 and R2. Depending on the parameters of the transistor, the optimal operating mode is set by a variable resistor R1.

A composite transistor VT2VT3 from transistors of different structures is included in the emitter circuit of the transistor of the first stage. The load of this transistor is the signal lamp HL1. To limit the maximum collector current of the transistor VT3, a resistor R2 is in the base circuit of the transistor VT3.

As a sensor, it is best to use a coil with a core from electromagnetic relays PCM, RES6, RES9 or others, with a winding resistance of at least 200 ohms. The greater the winding resistance, the more sensitive the indicator.

Details

Instead of the MP103A transistor, you can use the KT315 with any letter index. The main thing is that the collector reverse current is not too large. Instead of MP25B, any transistors of the MP25, MP26 series with a transfer coefficient of at least 40 are suitable. Capacitors - any, fixed resistors - MLT-0,25, variable resistor - SP-1. Signal lamp - for a voltage of 3,5 V and possibly a lower current, for example 0,15 A.

Establishment

After mounting the parts on the board or surface mounting and checking the correct connections, you can apply power. After that, you need to install the variable resistor engine so that the filament of the lamp barely glows. If the thread glows too brightly even when the slider is in the upper position according to the scheme, then the resistance of the resistor R2 is too low and its value needs to be increased. A permanent magnet is then briefly placed in front of the sensor core. The lamp should glow brightly. If the flash is weak, this indicates that the transfer coefficient of the transistor VT1 is too small. It will have to be replaced.

During the operation of the indicator with a variable resistor, first set the brightness of the lamp as low as possible, and then bring the object under test to the sensor core. When checking weakly magnetized objects, the initial brightness of the lamp should be slightly increased in order to better notice its change.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Seoul Semiconductor SunLike LED is the safest 25.11.2017

Seoul Semiconductor, an LED specialist, announced that its SunLike lighting LED, which is closest to the spectrum of sunlight, has received RG 1 Eye Safety certification. This is the highest level of safety for 25W COB LEDs.

The Eye Safety certification is based on an analysis of the emission spectrum. It is defined in the international standard CIE S 009:2002 and takes into account the factors of exposure to the eyes and skin described in the IEC / EN 62471 standard. The highest level of No Risk is received by sources that do not pose a "photobiological" hazard to humans. Level RG 1 (Low Risk) means that there is no risk in normal daily use. Level RG 2 (Intermediate Risk) indicates that there is no risk, but discomfort due to bright light or heat is possible. Finally, an RG level of 3 (High Risk) indicates that the light source is dangerous even with momentary exposure.

In addition to safety, the manufacturer also attributes good color rendering to the advantages of SunLike LEDs. These LEDs are expected to be widely used in home and office lighting, educational institutions, medical institutions, museums, shops and other places where safe and natural lighting is required.
