The refinement described below can be carried out with any automatic light-dynamic installation (SDU), the power amplification unit of which is assembled according to the traditional scheme - channel trinistors with series-connected screen device lamps are connected in parallel to the diagonal of a diode bridge powered directly from the mains. The modification concerns the power amplification unit, in which six diodes VD5-VD10 are added (see diagram), an additional lamp (EL4 - EL9) of the screen is connected in series with each diode. We will consider the operation of the block on the upper pair of channels according to the scheme.

Expanding the possibilities of a dynamic lighting installation. Scheme of modification of the power amplification unit

When both trinistors VS1 and VS2 are closed, lamps EL1 and EL2 do not light up. The voltage between the anodes of the trinistors is zero, so the additional lamps EL4 and EL5 do not light up either.

When the trinistor VS1 opens, and VS2 is closed, the EL1 and additional EL5 lamps are lit. If, on the contrary, the trinistor VS2 opens, and VS1 is closed, then the lamps EL2 and EL4 are lit. And finally, when both trinistors are open, the lamps EL1 and EL2 are lit. Additional lamps EL4 and EL5 do not light up, since the voltage between the anodes of the trinistors is again zero.

The interdependence between any other pairs of SCRs of the channels of the power amplification unit is similar to that described. Additional lamps must be rated for the same voltage as the main ones, and their power must be significantly less than the main ones. The permissible forward current of the diodes VD5 - VD10 must be at least the operating current through additional lamps, and the maximum permissible reverse voltage must be at least the supply voltage of the unit.

A modified power amplification block provides background transitions between channels. The diagram shows a modified three-channel block. Similarly, it is possible to remake a four-channel SDU, however, the power of additional lamps will have to be chosen even less, otherwise their burning will be accompanied by illumination of the main lamps.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Efficient solar cell made from conventional silicon 26.04.2021

Scientists from the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (ISE) have created a solar cell with a conversion efficiency of 26% from classic single-crystal silicon, which has become a world achievement. The new technology is simpler than the previously proposed Interdigitated Back Contact (IBC) technology with contacts on the back of the cells and promises to approach the theoretical limit of silicon when converting solar energy into electricity.

Today, the vast majority of solar panels are produced from ordinary single-crystal silicon - over 90%. It would be tempting to increase the efficiency of such panels without complicating the technology and increasing the cost of production. The IBC technology promised to help with this, when both current-carrying contacts in the cells are created on the back side of the cell, which does not obscure the panel and allows better use of the volume of the element in the process of knocking out electrons by photons. Unfortunately, although IBC panels are close to 26% in terms of efficiency, their production is quite expensive, so they turned out to be unclaimed.

Researchers at ISE have been able to bring the efficiency of single-crystal cells closer to 26% in another way and even promise to go further - to achieve an efficiency value of 27% with a theoretical limit for silicon of 29,4%. This was achieved due to the special arrangement of conductive contacts on both sides of the cells, but these are not all changes.

The new cell is based on the TOPCon contact, which is a tunnel oxide passivated contact. The new development differs from the panels produced today in that the TOPCon contact is not located on top, but lies along the entire back side of the cell. This approach also made it possible to alloy with boron not the entire front surface, but only places under the second ordinary contact remaining there, which simplified and reduced the cost of production. Thus, the new cell was named TOPCoRE (element with TOPCon contact on the back side).

In addition to high efficiency, the new element delivers more voltage, and its operation is accompanied by lower losses due to surface recombination and due to efficient electron transport.
