To reduce interference to radio stations operating on the air, when establishing transmitting devices, an antenna equivalent is used. It is easy to turn it into a transmitter output power meter.

Power meter

A schematic diagram of a power meter for transmitting KB equipment is shown in Fig. 1. It consists of a load resistor R1, a voltage divider across resistors R2 and R3 (division factor 10). as well as a high-frequency voltmeter on the diode V1. Since the resistance of the resistor R1 is known, the power dissipated on it can be easily calculated using the formula P = U2 / R1. Here U is the effective voltage across the load.

As a load resistor RI, a TVO-60 resistor with a power of 60 W and a resistance of 75 ohms is used.

Table 1

R, W U, B Microammeter scale mark
1 8.65 4.5
2 12,3 6.4
3 15,0 7,7
4 17.9 9.2
5 19,4 10.0
10 27.4 14.0
20 38.7 20.0
30 47.5 24.5
40 54.7 28.0
50 61.2 31.5
60 66.3 34.0
70 72,5 37.0
80 77.5 40.0
90 82.2 42.5
100 86,5 45.0
150 106.0 55 .0
200 122.5 63,0
250 137,0 70,5
300 150,0 77.0
350 162.0 83.5
400 173.0 89.0
450 184.0 95,0
500 194,0 100,0

It is placed in a brass case, which is a screen (Fig. 2).

Power meter

A coaxial connector is installed on one of the walls of the case. Resistors R2 and R3 - TBO-0,5. If there is no TVO-60 resistor. then you can use a certain number of MLT-2 resistors connected in parallel. It is important that the total power is at least 60 ... 100 W, and the total resistance is 75 ohms.

The design uses an M24 microammeter with a total deflection current of 100 μA. Resistor R4 - MLT-0,5, capacitor C1 - KM.

Setting up a power meter comes down to calibrating a voltmeter. As a source of high-frequency voltage, you can use the GZ-41 measuring generator or a transmitter (transceiver). The signal is applied to the divider R2R3, and the resistor R1 is temporarily turned off. By controlling the RF voltage with an exemplary device, for example, VK7-9, the voltage is set corresponding to the upper measurement limit (it is calculated using the above formula). Selecting the resistor R4, set the microammeter needle to the last mark of the scale, and then, changing the input voltage. make a calibration table similar to that given in the text.

This completes the calibration of the power meter. The divider is connected to a load resistor and the power released on it is measured. In this case, it is desirable to compare the readings with the readings of an exemplary power meter, for example, MZ-3A. MZ-5A, etc.

The world's tallest astronomical observatory opened 04.05.2024

Exploring space and its mysteries is a task that attracts the attention of astronomers from all over the world. In the fresh air of the high mountains, far from city light pollution, the stars and planets reveal their secrets with greater clarity. A new page is opening in the history of astronomy with the opening of the world's highest astronomical observatory - the Atacama Observatory of the University of Tokyo. The Atacama Observatory, located at an altitude of 5640 meters above sea level, opens up new opportunities for astronomers in the study of space. This site has become the highest location for a ground-based telescope, providing researchers with a unique tool for studying infrared waves in the Universe. Although the high altitude location provides clearer skies and less interference from the atmosphere, building an observatory on a high mountain poses enormous difficulties and challenges. However, despite the difficulties, the new observatory opens up broad research prospects for astronomers. ... >>

Controlling objects using air currents 04.05.2024

The development of robotics continues to open up new prospects for us in the field of automation and control of various objects. Recently, Finnish scientists presented an innovative approach to controlling humanoid robots using air currents. This method promises to revolutionize the way objects are manipulated and open new horizons in the field of robotics. The idea of controlling objects using air currents is not new, but until recently, implementing such concepts remained a challenge. Finnish researchers have developed an innovative method that allows robots to manipulate objects using special air jets as "air fingers". The air flow control algorithm, developed by a team of specialists, is based on a thorough study of the movement of objects in the air flow. The air jet control system, carried out using special motors, allows you to direct objects without resorting to physical ... >>

Purebred dogs get sick no more often than purebred dogs 03.05.2024

Caring for the health of our pets is an important aspect of the life of every dog owner. However, there is a common assumption that purebred dogs are more susceptible to diseases compared to mixed dogs. New research led by researchers at the Texas School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences brings new perspective to this question. A study conducted by the Dog Aging Project (DAP) of more than 27 companion dogs found that purebred and mixed dogs were generally equally likely to experience various diseases. Although some breeds may be more susceptible to certain diseases, the overall diagnosis rate is virtually the same between both groups. The Dog Aging Project's chief veterinarian, Dr. Keith Creevy, notes that there are several well-known diseases that are more common in certain breeds of dogs, which supports the notion that purebred dogs are more susceptible to disease. ... >>

Super Diamond Fusion Code 01.04.2024

Carbon is an element whose properties have long attracted the attention of scientists. One of the most durable materials - diamond - is made from it. However, there is a theoretical version of the carbon phase, which could surpass it in strength. A new discovery in the field of superdiamond synthesis may be the key to creating such a material.

Scientists have long dreamed of producing a material that is stronger than diamond. And now, thanks to research conducted on the basis of the unique Frontier supercomputer, this dream is becoming more and more real.

The so-called eight-atom body-centered cubic crystal (BC8) is a phase of carbon that is predicted to be 30% stronger than diamond. Recent astrophysical observations confirm that such conditions exist on carbon-rich exoplanets, where the material is thought to be most stable.

Key to success was the use of the Frontier supercomputer and the development of precise interatomic machine learning capabilities, which allowed scientists to discover the potential metastability of diamond at very high pressures. This discovery opens new perspectives in the field of creating durable materials and studying carbon phases under extreme conditions.

The discovery of a new phase of carbon - BC8 - could be the key to creating a material that is stronger than diamond. This breakthrough in the field of materials synthesis not only opens up new possibilities in science, but also could have broad practical applications in various industries.
