When watching video cassettes, the VCR can be connected to the TV via the antenna input, or you can use the low-frequency (LF) video input on the TV. In the first case, a double conversion of the video signal occurs. In the tape recorder, the video signal is converted to high-frequency, and in the TV the reverse conversion takes place. As a result, distortions are introduced into the signal and the level of noise increases, which is noticeable in the quality of the image on the TV when watching video cassettes.

There are other inconveniences and problems, especially when connecting imported video recorders.

There is a second way - to connect a VCR using the low-frequency video input (video adapter) of the TV. Unfortunately, most domestic TVs, especially early releases, do not have such a device, although there is a place for installation.

On fig. 1.1 shows a diagram of a simple video adapter for a TV. The circuit does not need to be turned on and off, as it will turn on automatically when a signal from the connected VCR appears. The device consists of a video signal switch on a D1.1 chip and a transistor VT1, a key for changing the sweep time constant on D1.2, and a sync pulse selector on VT2 and VT3 (used to automatically turn on the VCR operation mode). The signal from the output of the tape recorder through the isolation capacitor C3 and the emitter follower enters the radio channel module of the TV. The constant component of the voltage at the emitter VT1 disables the operation of the radio channel of the TV, and only the signal from the VCR is received at the input of the video amplifier of the TV.

The sound signal from the VCR through the capacitor C1 and trimmer resistor R4 is fed to the sound input of the TV. Resistor R4, when the VCR is running, you can set the sound volume to the same as when receiving television programs. It is convenient to carry out a preliminary check of the assembled circuit by applying pulses (T \u64d 58 μs, ti \u0,5d 1 μs) with an amplitude of 1 V from the generator to the input of the X1 / 470 socket, and control their appearance at the VT6,5 emitter without distortion. To do this, it is temporarily necessary to connect a resistor R with a resistance of XNUMX ohms to the emitter (shown by a dotted line in the diagram). In this case, the constant component of the voltage across the resistor should be about XNUMX V (control with an oscilloscope). This voltage ensures that the radio channel module of the TV is locked when working with a VCR.

The video adapter circuit is designed for installation in ZUSCT models in TVs. Structurally, the entire device is placed on one printed circuit board, which is installed in the TV on the A1 board of the radio channel module (MRK-2-5) in the X1 connector, if it is on the board, or soldered to the corresponding contacts of the board in place of this connector. Socket X40 (any type) is fixed on the back of the TV and connected to the adapter board with two shielded wires about XNUMX cm long.

In conclusion, we note that this video adapter can also be used to connect a simple household computer to a TV. To do this, a sync mixture of signals from the computer output is fed to the input of the video adapter through a limiting resistor of 0.1 ... 1 kOhm (select when connected).

Alcohol content of warm beer 07.05.2024

Beer, as one of the most common alcoholic drinks, has its own unique taste, which can change depending on the temperature of consumption. A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. The study, led by materials scientist Lei Jiang, found that at different temperatures, ethanol and water molecules form different types of clusters, which affects the perception of alcoholic taste. At low temperatures, more pyramid-like clusters form, which reduces the pungency of the "ethanol" taste and makes the drink taste less alcoholic. On the contrary, as the temperature increases, the clusters become more chain-like, resulting in a more pronounced alcoholic taste. This explains why the taste of some alcoholic drinks, such as baijiu, can change depending on temperature. The data obtained opens up new prospects for beverage manufacturers, ... >>

Major risk factor for gambling addiction 07.05.2024

Computer games are becoming an increasingly popular form of entertainment among teenagers, but the associated risk of gaming addiction remains a significant problem. American scientists conducted a study to determine the main factors contributing to this addiction and offer recommendations for its prevention. Over the course of six years, 385 teenagers were followed to find out what factors may predispose them to gambling addiction. The results showed that 90% of study participants were not at risk of addiction, while 10% became gambling addicts. It turned out that the key factor in the onset of gambling addiction is a low level of prosocial behavior. Teenagers with a low level of prosocial behavior do not show interest in the help and support of others, which can lead to a loss of contact with the real world and a deepening dependence on virtual reality offered by computer games. Based on these results, scientists ... >>

Traffic noise delays the growth of chicks 06.05.2024

The sounds that surround us in modern cities are becoming increasingly piercing. However, few people think about how this noise affects the animal world, especially such delicate creatures as chicks that have not yet hatched from their eggs. Recent research is shedding light on this issue, indicating serious consequences for their development and survival. Scientists have found that exposure of zebra diamondback chicks to traffic noise can cause serious disruption to their development. Experiments have shown that noise pollution can significantly delay their hatching, and those chicks that do emerge face a number of health-promoting problems. The researchers also found that the negative effects of noise pollution extend into the adult birds. Reduced chances of reproduction and decreased fertility indicate the long-term effects that traffic noise has on wildlife. The study results highlight the need ... >>

Liquid crystal fabric changes shape when heated 06.11.2023

Engineers from the USA have presented a new way to create fabric that can change its shape under the influence of heat. They combined conventional textile fibers with liquid crystals embedded in a polymer to create a fabric that shrinks at temperatures ranging from 26 to 66 degrees Celsius. This innovative fabric can be used to create comfortable clothing and smart materials.

Engineers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology produced liquid crystal fibers on standard weaving looms and used them to sew a suit for one of the developers' dogs. A battery on the suit heats it up, causing the fabric to shrink, turning it into a compression vest typically used to sedate animals.

Scientists have also created a women's sports top that shrinks as body temperature rises during exercise, providing comfort during exercise. After cooling, the fabric returns to its original position. Engineers hope that this innovative fabric will find use not only in clothing, but also in smart curtains or window coverings.
