The automatic humidity controller makes it possible to maintain air humidity in the ranges of 20...55 and 50...90% with an accuracy of 1,5 and 1%, respectively, when the supply voltage deviates by no more than -20% from the nominal value. It is advisable to use such sensors in vegetable and granaries, livestock farms, in everyday life and medical institutions.

Automatic humidity controller

The regulator consists of a hygrometric sensor - a hygristor R1, a threshold device - a Schmitt trigger on transistors V2-V4, an amplifying stage V7 and a power supply. With increasing humidity, the resistance of the hygristor decreases, and the negative voltage at the base of transistor V2 increases. When the threshold voltage on the base of V2 is reached, equal to the voltage on the diode V5, the trigger switches and the transistor V4 closes. This will cause an increase in the base current of the transistor V7, due to which it will open, the relay K1 will work and turn on the humidifier actuator with its contacts K1.2.

In this case, the contacts of the relay K1.1 are closed by the limiting resistor R9, and the signal lamp H1 will start to glow brighter.

Details. Relay K1 type RPU-2 or RPG for voltage 24 V; transformer T1 is made on the magnetic circuit ShL12 x 16: winding I contains 5300 turns of wire PEV-1 0,1, winding II - 480 turns of wire PEV-1 0,21; signal lamp H1 type KM for 24 V and 35 mA. Humidity sensor - hygristor is made of one-sided foil fiberglass 1 mm thick. The design of the sensor is shown in the figure.

Automatic humidity controller

After etching an insulating groove 1 mm wide, the sensor electrodes are tinned, degreased, covered with a saturated solution of lithium chloride or sodium chloride and dried. The resistance of the sensor with a change in humidity of 20...55% is 120...30 kOhm. At high humidity of 50...95%, the sensor is made of double-sided fiberglass without subsequent coating with sodium chloride solution. Connect the sensor to the regulator with a shielded wire. Establishing the regulator comes down to setting the limits of the scale of the resistor R3 by selecting the resistor R2.

To calibrate the scale of the resistor R3, an industrial psychrometer is used, which is placed together with the sensor in a chamber with varying humidity. At different humidity, determined using a psychrometer, the position of the potentiometer R3 slider is fixed, at which relay K.1 is activated. When operating the humidity controller, the hygristor board is mounted vertically. In this case, moisture condensation on the board should be avoided.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Eyes heal with light 17.12.2002

As you know, treating yourself to methyl alcohol, you can go blind: unlike ethyl alcohol, methyl alcohol turns into formic acid in the body, which destroys retinal cells.

The Wisconsin Medical College (USA) has found a way to prevent blindness from methyl alcohol. Rats given large doses of this substance go blind in one to two days. But if twice - after 5 and 50 hours after the introduction of alcohol - to illuminate the eyes of the affected rat with infrared light with a wavelength of 670 nanometers, vision is restored by 95 percent. Retinal cells regenerate.

It is believed that some other eye injuries, such as blinding by a laser beam, can be treated in this way.
