It all started with the 30GD-2 speaker offered to me, manufactured in 1988 for a small price. Before this proposal, I did not think about building a subwoofer. After checking and buying a speaker, I began to think about the device. To begin with, I learned to use the JBL SpeakerShop program, with which I calculated the subwoofer parameters.

I settled on the version with a phase inverter in a box with a volume of approximately 60-65 liters. Having made all the calculations, I would have to start sawing chipboard, but studying in grade 11 with attending courses did not give this opportunity. The project was shelved. After 3 months, I dug out a 2 cm thick laminated tree in my closet, which was the best fit for the subwoofer. The panels were sawn in a record time of 1 hour! And this is by hand with an ordinary hacksaw for wood
Thank you so much for helping my friend Archi. Then, within a few days, the first trial version of the subwoofer was assembled. It turned out that he was sorely lacking in rigidity, tk. the panels rattled, and that it had huge gaps, which was expressed in a terrible sniff.
At the time of the exams at the university, work was again curtailed. To strengthen the subwoofer, additional stiffening bars were sawn, and a sealant was placed on them so that the front and rear walls of the column would hermetically fall into place. The slots were plugged with plasticine, and then treated with mounting foam. The legs were screwed on. The phase inverter was made from a plumbing plastic pipe. After that, the sub played fine.

Artificial leather for touch emulation
15.04.2024
In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men
14.04.2024
The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>
Random news from the Archive The impact of fast food on sleep and memory of adolescents
17.09.2021
The researchers studied the eating habits of high school students and found out how they affect the sleep of teenagers. The observation was carried out in 64 countries of the world and covered 175 adolescents.
Teenagers who frequently consumed carbonated water were 55% more likely to have trouble sleeping than those who drank less of these sugary drinks, according to a study by scientists. It is clarified that we are talking about about three drinks a day, compared to a friend reports.
An analysis of data from 175261 adolescents aged 12 to 15 showed that frequent consumption of unhealthy foods is associated with poor sleep quality, which in turn negatively affects their well-being, memory and cognitive abilities.
Also, experts noted that sleep disturbances were observed in children if they consumed fast food more than four times a week. At the same time, as the authors of the study emphasized, violations occurred in girls twice as often as in boys.
These results are of great concern, as poor quality sleep negatively affects the well-being and cognitive development of adolescents, commented study author Asad Khan.
Khan stressed that preventive activities should start in schools and families. In educational institutions, scientists recommend limiting children's access to soda and harmful snacks, and parents are less likely to buy them home and involve children in such a diet, especially if girls grow up in families.
