Step-by-step instructions for converting a computer power supply for use with a transceiver.

1. It is necessary to remove all parts for -12, -5 and +5 volts. I have removed the diodes, capacitors, inductors and terminating resistors for these voltages. All this takes up a lot of space.

2. Rewind the winding nodes for +12 volts with a thicker wire. Choke for +12 volts I wound wire 1.3. For 1 volt, 1.5 turns, that is, 20-21 turns. It can also be wound in two wires, with a 0.6 wire. The winding must strongly apply to the core. Things are more complicated with the transformer, it is very difficult to disassemble it (It is flooded with something Chinese, Hi!). If you make it out, try winding it with a thicker wire. Count the turns and wind the same + 8-10 turns (We sometimes have 190 volts in the network).

3. Replace the rectifier diodes for +12 volts with an assembly of 30A 45V Schottky barrier diodes. I applied assembly 30CPQ045. (Maybe other manufacturers have this assembly called differently). The use of domestic diodes gave unsatisfactory results. - large voltage drop. Diodes KD 2998 gave a drop of about 1.1 volts under load.

4. Break the track on the board that went to the first leg of the TL494. Through a resistor divider, apply voltage to this first leg of the microcircuit. (Many thanks to A.Yu. Sidelnikov 4L1AW). By this we force the microcircuit to count the voltage we need +12 volts. In the original version, it counts the total voltage, where +5 volts is dominant.

5. By selecting the values of the resistors of the divider, I set the desired voltage at the output of +14 volts.

Everything I did is shown in the schematic diagram below in fig. 1. A photograph of the resulting power supply is shown in fig. 2. The source has been tested in the most severe mode. The voltage drop at 18A was 0.3V. Oddly enough, the PSU works. I think everything is easy and simple. And after the alteration, you will have a light and small PSU available. If you have any suggestions or comments, please write to my E-mail.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Artificial retina on photocells 27.09.2021

Scientists from the Center for Neuroprosthetics in Lausanne, Switzerland have developed a fundamentally new type of retinal implant.

More than 3 million patients around the world are blind due to disease or damage to the retina. But the existing implants are of little help so far. They restore visual visibility by no more than 20 degrees, and patients with such implants are officially recognized as visually impaired.

Swiss scientists have developed a flexible polymer implant that is also a solar battery. The image is obtained by video cameras located on the glasses. Here everything is as usual. But then everything is new. The image is transmitted wirelessly to the implanted retina. Moreover, the implant area is almost the same as the natural retina.

The implant material was specially made thin and flexible so that it could be inserted into the eye through a very narrow incision. The large area of the implant allows you to dramatically increase the resolution of the image, compared to existing analogues.

The implant does not need power sources. It is powered by natural light. After receiving the image from the cameras, the artificial retina transmits it further to the optic nerve.

Such an implant, according to scientists, will restore more than 40 degrees of visual visibility and increase the resolution of the image several times. This means that a person can already officially be recognized as sighted. But while there are clinical trials.
