For communication in the 28-29,7 MHz band, the UB5GFI radio uses a triple square antenna with vertical polarization (see Fig. 1). Vertical polarization is used to achieve reliable direct beam communication, since most hobbyists use whip antennas in this range.

The antenna consists of an active vibrator with a square side of 259 cm, a reflector with a side of 269 cm and a director with a side of 240 cm. The frames are fixed at the ends of wooden slats with a section of 20x20 mm. An antenna cord with a diameter of 2,5 mm was used as a wire.

To increase the rigidity of the structure, the squares are fastened together by four longitudinal rails with a section of 10x10 mm.

The active vibrator is fed at point A by a coaxial cable with a characteristic impedance of 75 ohms. The central core is connected to the lower one, the braid is connected to the upper wire of the frame (it has been established that with this connection, the antenna diagram "mows" less). The passive elements include loops from a symmetrical two-wire line with a distance between the wires of 10 and a length of 50 cm. The loops are attached to horizontal rails and are located inside the squares.

On fig. 2 shows the experimental antenna pattern (main lobe) taken with a field indicator spaced at 100 m (10 lambda).

During the operation of the antenna, many short-range (up to 200 km) and long-distance communications have been installed. Most correspondents estimated the strength of the S9 signals with a transmitter power of only 10 watts.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Ford Mustang Lithium Electric Muscle Car 06.11.2019

Ford has partnered with automotive component manufacturer Webasto to unveil a unique prototype, the Mustang Lithium electric muscle car.

The car uses 800-volt technology. Such a system allows you to increase the power of the electric power platform, reduce its overall weight and reduce heating.

The Mustang Lithium has over 900 horsepower and over 1350 Nm of torque. The acceleration time from 0 to 100 km / h, alas, is not given, but most likely it is about 3 s.

One of the features of the prototype is the Getrag MT82 mechanical six-speed gearbox. The car is equipped with Ford Performance axle shafts and a Super 8.8 Torsen differential.

Large 20-inch wheels are fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. Brembo mechanisms are responsible for effective braking.

The muscle car received body parts made of carbon fiber. Various control modes are available, which can be selected through the 10,4-inch touch screen on-board computer.

In its current form, the Mustang Lithium serves as a test platform for testing electric vehicle technologies, as well as a demonstrator of the capabilities of electrified sports cars.
