Here is a recipe for a cheap and unusually intense black matte finish on wood.

After pre-treatment with a plane, sand the wood with glass paper so that its surface becomes completely smooth. Then I cover the wood with a solution of nigrosin and denatured and wood alcohol, which is 75 times more than nigrosin. To improve the base, coat the surface of the wood twice with this solution. The mordant is applied using a sponge or brush, depending on the size of the surface intended for treatment. After etching, the surface must be lightly treated again with glass paper, after which black varnish is applied to the wood while warm (about 25 ° C).

Lacquer is composed as follows:

Soften 850 g of celluloid in 1,7 kg of strong, alcohol; then it is dissolved in 19 kg of amyl acetate and the solution clarified by settling is dyed: a mixture of 115 g of nigrosine and 425 g of lamp black.

Lamp black is triturated with part of the solution and then mixed with the rest of the liquid. The varnish itself is applied with a brush, passing it over the surface of the wood all the time in one direction. If the tree is well primed with mordant, it may be enough to coat it with varnish twice.

Warming Arctic leads to frosty winter 03.10.2017

A new study by climatologists from Germany and the US indicates that the warming of the Arctic is leading to the destruction of winter cyclones that kept cold air at the pole, and therefore winters are only getting colder.

The paper says that the warming of the Arctic is rapidly increasing, due to which there is an accelerated melting of glaciers that previously covered most of the ocean, thereby isolating it from the sun's rays. When heated, the water heats the air and heat flows reach the stratosphere.
