If you ask someone how a tourist differs from an ordinary pedestrian, then the answer, in all likelihood, will be simple: backpacker. Indeed, this is a necessary accessory for tourist equipment, and a comfortable, light, roomy backpack is the dream of every travel lover. It is no coincidence that many experienced tourists sew them themselves.

More recently, the well-known Abalakovo backpack was the standard here. However, with the growth of the general level of modern tourism and the increase in requirements and equipment, it was replaced by new types: easel and soft modular. Of course, each of them has its pros and cons. In the considered design, an attempt was made to combine the positive qualities of both on the basis of a soft backpack.

The principle of modularity as applied to a backpack means the ability to change its "architecture": remove some of the parts, supplement them with auxiliary ones, and also use some of the containers on their own, for example, at radial and reconnaissance exits, on the road, at the entrances. Here they are, the components of such a receptacle for tourist supplies: the “bag” itself with a tube, the “superstructure” on top - a valve, two side pockets, two “bananas” on the cargo belt.

The volume of the bag itself - the main "capacity" - is about 56 dm3, which allows you to put 25-30 kg of cargo into it; the tube has 25 dm3 - another 10-12 kg, the top valve 15 dm3 - 5-7 kg, side pockets of 10 dm3 - another 8-10 kg. It turns out that such a backpack can hold up to 60 kg of various items needed on the route. This is, perhaps, the maximum weight for sports trips, even of the highest categories of difficulty, and basically such loaded containers are only when transported to the starting point and at the exit. Due to the large load, special attention should be paid to the shoulder straps: they are made much wider than usual, but tougher (due to the layering. At the bottom, they are attached to pop-up locks sewn on straps 100 mm above the bottom of the backpack.

A weight belt is also made, a "back" pad made of foam plastic 15-20 mm thick, placed at the back wall of the bag: it acts as a solid machine and, in addition, forms a stack well, allowing you to place the most weighty and solid things here. All this makes it possible to more evenly distribute the load on the shoulders, transfer it partially to the hips, fixing the position of the lower part of the structure, unload the spine, which significantly reduces fatigue during long transitions. Moreover, such a backpack makes it possible to maximally shift the center of gravity of the load to the optimal position - to bring it closer to the back of the tourist.

Rice. 1. Soft modular backpack (click to enlarge): 1 - weight belt. 2 - "banana", 3 - side pocket, 4 - bag, 5 - handle, 6 - shoulder strap, 7 - tube. 8 - drawstring. 9 - top valve

Two pairs of rings are placed in front of the bag; to them with the help of rubber shock absorbers with hooks, for example, from expanders, you can attach things that should be, as they say, at hand on the way: a windbreaker, a cape, a mosquito net, etc. films, cameras, lenses or repair kits. And in order to make it more convenient to lift the backpack, rearrange it from place to place, load it into the car, handles from double-folded braid are sewn on the upper part of the sidewalls.

There are various ways to adjust the volume of the backpack. For example, side lacing is very common. However, using it leads to an exorbitant increase in the diameter of the container and takes the center of gravity of the load back from the optimal position, that is, increases the overturning moment. As a paradox: more weight has to be carried with its worst distribution. Lacing also makes it difficult to wade through bushes, coastal thickets. A large diameter backpack usually gets stuck between trees, in narrow passages. These considerations led to the placement of the tube and top valve.

The valve is equipped with a zipper, so things that are most necessary on this part of the route fit here. Since the attachment to the backpack allows it to move somewhat along the drawstring straps, it is possible to adjust the position of the valve. The valve is removable and is often used as a shopping bag on the road. The side pockets are also removable. They can also be used separately - as small backpacks for reconnaissance and radial exits. They are laced to the bag with the help of belts and ribbons sewn on the sidewalls.

Modern backpacks are sewn, as a rule, from synthetic fabrics, high-strength and light. Unlike, say, a conventional tarpaulin, they do not freeze and do not tan in the cold, do not swell when wet, and quickly dry out after rain. It is best to use a nylon adviser or a slightly less dense technical nylon for the bag and valve. It is not recommended to put thinner fabrics here, as they are strongly stretched and do not hold their shape. However, side pockets, a tube, "banana" belts are successfully sewn from them. You can also combine, for example, make the bottom of the bag out of nylon cord or rubberized fabric.

Rice. 2. Open the main part of the backpack-bag (click to enlarge): 1 - handle, 2 - sidewalls, 3 - side pocket fastening tapes, 4 - shoulder strap lock (two half rings), 5 - shoulder strap. 6 - loop, 7 - sewn-in reinforcement strip, 8 - back. 9 - tightening belt, 10 weight belt guide, 11 - bottom, 12 - half rings, 13 - tightening belt lock (two half rings), 14 - front

On the shoulder and drawstring straps, the weight belt is a nylon ribbon cord. Metal half rings are used as fixing yarns. Zippers should be plastic, with large teeth.

It is convenient to cut avizent (as well as other synthetic fabrics) with a soldering iron, the tip of which is sharpened with a “boat”, on a sheet of plywood along a metal square or ruler. At the same time, the edges of the fabric are fused.

And now about the "assembly" of the backpack. It is more rational to carry it out in this order: sew handles and ribbons under the belts to secure the pockets on the sides of the bag, buckles and ribbons to the bottom, sew a loop in front. Then connect the back, sidewalls, front and bottom, fasten the tightening straps. Next, sew a strip of material to support the weight belt (70x240 mm), straps, laying another layer of fabric (70x400 mm) over them to reinforce, and finally, the sides of the bag to the bottom. Having closed all the seams of the bag, sew the tube and attach the rest of the backpack.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Windmills above the Eiffel Tower 04.02.2021

In the largest onshore wind park in Europe, Markbygden, which is being built in Sweden, they are going to install giant wind turbines 300 meters high. Their size will be comparable to the height of the Eiffel Tower. Bloomberg writes about it.

By the end of the first quarter of 2021, the company Svevind, which operates the wind farm, is going to submit a request for the placement of record-breaking wind turbines. Obtaining a permit can take two to three years. In addition, at the moment, windmills of this size have not yet been invented. The largest rig currently on the market is the 5.8-170 from Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA.

The higher the windmills, the more energy they will produce. By the end of the decade, 1101 installations will be operating in the park - together they will provide about eight percent of Sweden's electricity needs.

By 2035, the demand for electricity in Sweden will grow by 70 percent, so now the kingdom needs to think about how to generate more electricity in a sustainable way. Otherwise, the country will not be able to achieve the climate goals that it sets for itself. In 2020, the output of Swedish wind farms increased by 40 percent.
