Basic scientific information, legends, myths, symbolism

Sort by: Calopogon (Calopogonium)

Family: Legumes (Fabaceae)

Origin: South and Central America, Africa, Asia, Oceania

Area: Calopogon is widely distributed in tropical and subtropical regions of the world, including South and Central America, Africa, Asia and Oceania.

Chemical composition: Mucun kalopogon contains xanthone glycosides, coumarins, flavonoids, terpenoids, alkaloids and other compounds.

Economic value: Kapogon is used for green manure, soil erosion control and as livestock feed. Also used for phytoremediation, i.e. purification of polluted soils from toxic substances, due to its ability to nitrogen fixation.

Legends and myths: In the culture of the peoples of South Asia and Southeast Asia, kapogon was used as a food product, especially as feed for livestock.

Calopogonium mucunoides. Methods of application, origin of the plant, range, botanical description, cultivation

Mukunovy kalopogon

It is grown as a fodder, soil-protective and green manure crop. The green mass at a moisture content of 68,4% contains 4,3% protein, 1,8% fat, 9,4% fiber, 13,5% BEV and 2,6% ash. In dry weight, about 20% protein, 2,2% calcium and 0,6% phosphorus. As a fodder plant, it is used for green fodder and hay.

Comes from tropical Africa.

Grown in the tropics of Africa, America, Southeast Asia, Australia.

Mucunovy kalopogon (Colopogonium mucunoides Desv.) is a climbing plant. In pastures, it is restored by self-sowing with the first rains, and therefore it is often considered a perennial.

Stem 1-3 m long, pubescent, rooting at the nodes, strongly leafy.

Leaves trifoliate, pubescent.

The flowers are small, pale blue.

Beans 3-4 cm long.

Seeds square, yellow. Weight of 1000 seeds - 14-15 g.

Mukunovy kalopogon

It grows on plains and in mountainous regions with a height of up to 1400 m above sea level. In the rainy season, it develops rapidly and intensively, forming a dense cover, and thus well protects the soil from erosion. It is highly drought tolerant, withstanding even relatively long dry periods.

It has a great influence on soil fertility, in particular, the possibilities of using atmospheric nitrogen by plants of kalopogon mucun are colossal. Thus, in Nigeria, when inoculating seeds and applying fertilizers, kalopogon accumulated up to 450 kg of nitrogen per 1 ha in the soil.

Tillage is normal for annual fodder grasses.

Sowing method - ordinary or scattered. The seeding rate is 9-12 kg of seeds per 1 ha. Seeding depth 2-3 cm.

Mowed for fodder purposes at the beginning of flowering. The yield of green and dry mass is 40-60 t and 10-14 t/ha, respectively, and that of seeds is 0,15-0,3 t/ha.

Calopogonium mucunoides. Tips for growing, harvesting and storing

cultivated and wild plants. Legends, myths, symbolism, description, cultivation, methods of application

Calopogonium mucunoides is a perennial herb that is used as livestock feed and soil amendment.

Tips for growing, harvesting and storing mucun kalopogon:

Cultivation:

  • Calopogon can grow in a variety of conditions, but prefers fertile, well-drained soil and a sunny location.
  • It is recommended to grow kalopogon flour from seeds or cuttings.
  • The plant needs moderate watering and can be fertilized with organic and mineral fertilizers.

Workpiece:

  • Kapogon can be mowed when the plant reaches a height of about 30-50 cm. It can be used in the silage harvesting method or dried in the sun to make hay.
  • When using the silage method, the flour kalopogon should be cut into pieces and placed in a pile, which is then tightly compacted and closed. With proper storage, silage can be stored for several months.
  • Dried kalopogon flour should be removed in a dry place and protected from moisture and mold.

Storage:

  • Store kapogon flour should be in a cool and dry place, protected from moisture and sunlight.
  • Silage can be stored for several months and hay up to 1 year, depending on storage conditions.

The existence of an entropy rule for quantum entanglement has been proven 09.05.2024

Quantum mechanics continues to amaze us with its mysterious phenomena and unexpected discoveries. Recently, Bartosz Regula from the RIKEN Center for Quantum Computing and Ludovico Lamy from the University of Amsterdam presented a new discovery that concerns quantum entanglement and its relation to entropy. Quantum entanglement plays an important role in modern quantum information science and technology. However, the complexity of its structure makes understanding and managing it challenging. Regulus and Lamy's discovery shows that quantum entanglement follows an entropy rule similar to that for classical systems. This discovery opens new perspectives in the field of quantum information science and technology, deepening our understanding of quantum entanglement and its connection to thermodynamics. The results of the study indicate the possibility of reversibility of entanglement transformations, which could greatly simplify their use in various quantum technologies. Opening a new rule ... >>

Single-car diesel train Kawasaki Heavy Industries 13.08.2021

Japanese Kawasaki Heavy Industries has created a single-car diesel train, which in the future is planned to be adapted for hybrid traction with a battery.

The DEC700 series diesel train prototype was developed for the Japanese passenger carrier JR West. This month JR West plans to conduct its dynamic tests.

Currently, the train is tested only with a diesel engine, but next year it is scheduled to be tested with lithium-ion storage units with a capacity of 15,2 kWh.

The DEC700 series car with a length of 20 meters can accommodate up to 90 passengers, in the future it should replace the diesel trains of the KiHa40 series, produced in 1977-1983 by Japanese Fuji Heavy Industries (now Subaru) and Niigata Tekko.
