TRIUM ASTRAL

The design vaguely resembles the synthesis of Alcatel Easy with the Motorola 3888 series, although this is my personal opinion. The phone is not the smallest in size and weight: 132x49x29 mm and 149 g, but, nevertheless, does not make a particular impression of heaviness and bulkiness. If desired or necessary, you can easily change the front panel of the phone to one more suitable for your mood or the color of your eyes :). These interchangeable panels are available in a wide range of colors. At the top of the phone there is an LED that lights up red when the phone is charging, I did not notice any other additional functions.

The phone is equipped with a large graphic high-contrast backlit display that allows you to display 4 lines x 13 characters of text, a line of icons. In the settings, you can adjust the contrast and turn off the screen backlight.

Let's turn on the phone. Both turning the phone on and off is carried out using the key with a red circle located on the right below the display. Holding this key down for a few seconds turns the machine off or on. After a melodic beep, an animated Trium screensaver appears, after which the phone activates the display and goes into normal mode (standby mode), and simply instantly registers on the network. Yes, registration is not just fast, but very fast, which suggests excellent electronic components of this device.

Regarding the battery-charging part

The charger is a little big by today's miniature standards, but it has sufficient power - 5.8 V, 520 mAh. Charging is fast - a full charge takes about 2 hours. Powerful battery - Ni-MH 900 mAh - 3.8 V, built into the removable rear panel of the phone. From one charge, the phone works for 3-5 days (depending on the load), a powerful battery affects. The phone warns about the exhaustion of the charge in advance, but it should be borne in mind that if you have already been warned, you need to urgently charge it - there is very little charge left.

SIM card holder

The fastening of the SIM card is quite original, especially against the background of mass models - with the help of a plastic holder leaving the case - a platform where you first need to place the SIM card, and then put the holder back in the appropriate place. The holder is not collapsible, so it is difficult to break anything. A positive feature is that it somewhat speeds up the change of one SIM card to another J. To be honest, it is not clear why there are so many tricks in fasteners, in my opinion, this process has already been worked out enough by everyone and there is no need to reinvent the wheel.

Menu

In normal mode, the display shows the following symbols:

Charging the battery (upper right corner)
Network signal strength (in the upper left corner)
Operator name (center)
Entering the SMS menu (short message menu).
Keyboard lock (Lock)

Ergonomics of the menu pleases the eye - such a convenient, well-designed and intuitive menu, I admit, I rarely met. Although at first there was still a slight confusion with the keys - what and where to press in order to get to such and such an item. But the logic is flawless. The entire menu system is colorfully decorated with appropriate pictures, at least it looks attractive.

There are no slowdowns or delays when working with the menu. Working with the menu greatly simplifies the universal four-position navigation key - Mouse key and two two-position keys on the right and left under the display.

The navigation key has two symbols in white: a list and a notebook. Accordingly, the right mouse key press on the list symbol brings up a beautifully designed menu of functions, the left click on the address book symbol brings up the phone book. The oval keys located on the right and on the left, as mentioned earlier, have two positions - the right one, with a red tube symbol, performs the function of turning the device on / off and at the same time the functions of canceling an action and activating the key lock. The left one, with a green handset symbol, is used to start dialing or, accordingly, answer a call, at the same time it works as a confirmation key and enter the SMS mode. Taking into account the two-position nature of these keys, it is necessary to distinguish between the upper or lower pressing of each of them, which causes the activation of various functions.

Phone book and calls

The easiest way to get to it is by pressing the left arrow of the navigation key. Immediately we find ourselves in the list of phones sorted alphabetically. Unfortunately, this is where it all ends. To view call statistics, you need to navigate through the main menu of the phone. Call statistics are very well done. 5 incoming, 5 outgoing and 5 unanswered calls are recorded. In the phone book, you can choose whether to store the number in the phone's memory (100 numbers) or in the SIM card's memory (depending on the card). You can check the remaining free memory capacity, both in the phone and on the SIM card.

Working with SMS

Working with SMS is perhaps one of the most convenient features of the phone. It should, of course, take into account the wonderful four-line display for displaying text messages. Writing messages is simplified as much as possible, and the received message can not only be read, memorized or answered, but also forwarded to another subscriber. Although many phones have similar functions, in terms of convenience here it is as simple as e-mail. When writing a message, a hint appears on the top of the display, showing which characters can be entered by pressing a particular key.

Sound part of the phone

The sound part of the phone is made at an excellent level. You can choose from 12 fairly popular melodies, the sound of which is very nice. Although there is no way to enter or edit melodies, almost all signals can be adjusted in volume, from the sound of keystrokes to adjusting the volume of the speaker. The limited choice of menu language looks somewhat strange. Only 3 languages: English, French, German. Russian, unfortunately, was not found.

Connection quality

The connection quality is remarkable, apparently, when releasing their new line of phones, Mitsubishi, not wanting to lose face, thoroughly worked on the radio-electronic stuffing of the device. The reception of the latter is very confident, the sensitivity increases by 15 percent when the fixed antenna is extended, and there is a special connector for connecting an external antenna. It was not possible to notice any malfunctions in work.

Additional functions

Of the additional functions, the phone is equipped with a notebook (SCRATCHPAD) and a currency converter. You can store up to 10 entries in the notebook, the currency converter allows direct and reverse conversion of the exchange rate value of one currency entered by you into the value of another.

Misunderstandings and shortcomings

In my opinion, a WAP browser would not be superfluous in a phone with such a huge display. The second incomprehensibility is the complete absence of any clock and calendar.

Overall Impression

The phone is very easy to manage and is equipped with a huge number of different settings. By modern standards, it is somewhat large, but with such an excellent price-quality ratio, it can be safely recommended for business use in various areas of life.
