BUILDER, HOUSEHOLDER
Two-story rabbitry. Tips for the home master Directory / Builder, home master The proposed mini-farm is designed for breeding and keeping rabbits of any breed both in private and public subsidiary plots. It is based on a two-tier cell-module (if necessary, there may be several secluded by a common roof). The device of the farm and the mode of maintenance are thought out in such a way that it can be used even by those rabbit breeders - amateurs who can take care of animals only once a week - on their days off. It is with such a frequency that the feeders are filled with the gene, root crops or compound feed; not more often and canister drinking bowls with heated water. The slatted floor of the cages with funnel-shaped sloping manure shafts makes cleaning and harvesting permanent under other conditions unnecessary. The design of the cage is simple, and the cost of its construction pays off in the very first months of operation. You only need two sheets of fiberboard, two sheets of three-layer plywood, four 60x100 mm timbers, 50 picket fence strips, 4 m2 of roofing material for pallets, nails and paint. In addition, the equipment set will include two deep enameled bowls (approximately 220 mm in diameter), four canisters (for example, five-liter polyethylene from under "Tosol"), a manure collector up to 300 mm high, two VPI-03 electric boilers (household, submersible type) and step-down transformers 220x127 V (four for 7-8 cells). The design of each cage is designed for a strict orientation to the cardinal points: a blank, closed wall with boxes of nurseries and feeders is facing north and blocks the animals from cold winds; the roof overhangs 900 mm on the north side, 600 mm on the south side, and is flush with the protruding beams on the western and eastern sides. The cage consists of a stand-frame, lower and upper tiers. When installing a structure in an open place, it is equipped with a roof made of roofing material, preferably transparent or translucent, in extreme cases, simply from roofing material. The upper tier in the main variant is jigging, it serves for rearing rabbits after the suckling period. The room is made of cells of different floor area: one of them protrudes beyond the dimensions of the frame. Males live in it; however, if the number of females in the litter prevails, a large cell is given to them. Halves of the jigging tier are separated by a feed trough working on two sides, and a common canister drinker. In addition, each compartment has a folding feeder for root crops, as well as a grass and hay nursery, designed as an opening door; There is also a door to the drinker. The floor of the tier is horizontal, made of wooden slats, located at 45 °, so that the rabbits do not damage their paws. The walls and doors (except for the northern ones) are lattice. The same elements make up the uterine tier located below from two - nesting and walking compartments. The first has a removable part of the floor, located lower than the rest of the area of the tier: here, in front of the round, a mother liquor is placed; the rabbit will move into it, obeying the burrow instinct. The rest of the nest compartment is stationary, equipped with a wall with a manhole, which is blocked if necessary by a valve. The door to the nesting compartment has hinges at the bottom; when the door is opened (tilted), a platform is formed. The walking compartment is also with a slatted floor, only with the reverse arrangement of the slats, perpendicular to the direction of the set of the upper tier, which, by the way, achieves greater rigidity of the entire structure. On the territory of the range there is a canister drinker, a folding feeder for root crops and a bunker feeder. The manger-door is also hung on the rack of the rear wall of the paddock. In addition, there is a door for installing an autodrinker. A window was made in the floor of the paddock for the conical end of the pitched shaft, reinforced under the floor of the upper tier. The pitched shaft of the lower tier communicates with a bunker equipped with a removable door and a manure collection tank. Inspection in the periodic cleaning of mines - through special doors. They also give access to containers for the utilization of compound feed flour, located under the inclined nets of the compound feeders.
In the lower part of the cage frame there is a compartment for electrical equipment, which can also serve as a lockable room for jigging rabbits or storing valuable tools. Nearby there is a shelf for cage care accessories; in the middle there is a folding stand-bench, they stand on it when working with the upper tier or use it for rest. For the convenience of loading the feeders, they are made protruding or reclining outwards. So, root feeders open by turning towards themselves and are held in this position by the upper door, which can be tilted completely to turn the feeder and turn it into a table. Compound feed bowls consist of a body with windows for feeding rabbits and a pallet. The latter is a fine-mesh mesh that passes "flour to a retractable container for subsequent disposal. Hinged elements of the cage are equipped with handles, hinges, latches, and, if necessary, mortise locks. The walls on the side and front of the cage are covered with a fine mesh, and the working side of the nursery is coarse mesh. Up to 25 animals are kept in one cage at the same time: in the lower tier - a rabbit with a new litter, in the upper tier - the previous offspring. When ten females are kept in eight cages (two cages have an upper uterine tier, one has a male tier), a daily output of one rabbit weighing 4,5 kg is achieved. A mini-farm does not require a large area: one cell occupies only 1,4 m2; a two-row mini-shed of eight cells with a gap between them of 70 cm (along the legs) and a passage of 110 cm - an area of \u25b\u2bless than XNUMX mXNUMX. The experience and practice of operating two-tiered cages for several years on an experimental farm showed not only profitability, but also high profitability of using the described design in amateur rabbit breeding, protected by copyright certificate No. 782773 with priority dated November 20, 1978.
