The question, of course, is interesting

Khait A.I.
Khait A.I.

Phraseologism: The question is, of course, interesting.

Meaning: When answering a tricky, difficult question, when the speaker does not immediately find the proper answer, and therefore, in order to gain time, he utters this phrase. Sometimes serves as a reaction to a rhetorical or ridiculous question (ironic).

Origin: From a sketch (1980s) by writer-humorist Arkady Iosifovich Khait (1938-2000). The expression gained fame after its repeated performance by the artist Efim Shifrin in humorous programs of Soviet television.

Random phraseology:

Glue and scissors.

Meaning:

Cutting out individual passages from a previously written text (one's own or someone else's) and gluing them together, replacing one's own original work (iron.).

Origin:

The author of the expression is the Swiss critic and poet Johann Jakob Bodmer (1698-1783). In his writings, he at least twice used this expression - "scissors and a pot of glue" (1744), characterizing the "creative method" of some writers. It was the Swiss critic that the German writer, philosopher-educator and art theorist Gotthold Ephraim Lessing (1729-1781) referred to, thanks to whom this expression became widely known. In his Letters on Modern Literature (letter 17, 1759), Lessing repeated Bodmer's formula in relation to the boring tragedy The Dying Cato (1732) by the German classical playwright Johann Christoph Gottsched (ironically nicknamed in Germany "literary dad" - by analogy with the Pope Roman). After that, the expression became winged. In Soviet times in Russia, among journalists who prepared editorials, there was a popularly similar ironic expression - "the Rekle method", which meant the same work technology - "cut and glue" ..

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

96-layer QLC NAND flash prototype created 22.07.2018

Toshiba Memory announced the creation of a 96-layer crystal. Together with Western Digital, she created a prototype of a 96-layer BiCS FLASH flash memory capable of storing 4 data bits per cell (QLC NAND). Needless to say, layering further increases the density of flash memory.

Toshiba emphasizes that the new chips are the most capacious on the market - 1,33 Tbps. By packing 16 dies of 96-layer QLC 3D NAND memory, you can get a record-breaking 2,66 TB chip. The manufacturer promises to show it at the 2018 Flash Memory Summit event, which will be held in Santa Clara from August 6 to 9.

Note that most modern SSDs use 32-layer chips, while the most advanced models use 64-layer ones. So mass distribution of 96-layer memory will not get very soon.

Deliveries of trial samples of new memory chips to SSD developers and controllers for SSD should begin in early September, and the appearance of serial products with this memory is expected next year.

Late last year, Toshiba sold its semiconductor business, which includes Toshiba Memory, for $18 billion to a consortium led by Western Digital.
