Origin: From "The Tale of the Fisherman and the Fish" (1835) by A. S. Pushkin. The goldfish fulfilled all the whims of an envious, greedy old woman: she gave her a new trough to replace the broken one, then a new hut, turned the old woman first into a noblewoman, then into a queen, but when the old woman wanted to be the "mistress of the sea", the fish became angry: "The old man returned to old woman - // Look: again in front of him is a dugout, // His old woman is sitting on the threshold, // And in front of her is a broken trough.
