Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

TransferJet is Toshiba's NFC competitor 10.01.2013

The Japanese company Toshiba has declared war on wires with its TransferJet technology, which was once again reminded of at CES. TransferJet allows you to exchange files between devices at close range.

The use of technology is in many ways similar to the work of NFC - compatible devices must be brought close enough to each other, after which the transfer of selected files will begin. It would seem that why it is necessary to invent something that has long been invented, however, Toshiba technology has an advantage over NFC - this is a high data transfer rate that can reach an impressive 375 Mbps. This means that it will take you about a minute to transfer, for example, a 3 GB video file.

TransferJet is an open standard that can be used and developed by other companies. In addition, Toshiba introduced special adapters that can be connected to devices - smartphones, tablets, laptops and transfer data between them using TransferJet. Despite everything, Toshiba itself believes that technology has a great future and that it will help people get closer to their dream - to live in a beautiful world without wires.
