Blitzkrieg

Sharl De Goll
Sharl De Goll

Phraseologism: Blitzkrieg.

Meaning: 1. Lightning war, pressure, fast action. 2. Failed plans.

Origin: From German: Blitzkrieg. Translation: Lightning war. The military strategy of combat operations, which was used by the Nazi generals during the war with France, Poland and tried to apply in the war with the USSR. This expression appeared already in 1935 in the magazine "Deutsche Wehr" ("German Army"). In 1938, Fritz Sternberg's book "Germany and the Lightning War" was published in England ("Germany and Lightning War"). The expression was very popular in the German press when the troops of Nazi Germany defeated France in the shortest possible time and rapidly captured its territory during the summer campaign of 1940. But the theory itself was developed and published (1934) by the French colonel Charles de Goll in his book "Toward a Professional Army". He proposed to finally break with the outdated strategy and tactics of warfare (movement of infantry columns, arrangement of long-term combat positions, etc.) and focus on mobile motorized units. Hitler's generals finalized de Gaulle's strategy , putting armored units at the head of the attacking troops, which were assigned the main role in disorganizing and defeating the enemy’s defenses. The blitzkrieg technique, which was successfully used at the first stage of World War II, consisted of the following. communications, intelligence gathering and disinformation rmation. This was followed by a powerful bombing strike, which was inflicted by the air force, trying to destroy enemy aircraft at airfields, disabling transport and communications. Then the aviation delivered a bombing strike directly on the concentrations of enemy troops. And then the mobile units of the German army entered the battle - motorized infantry, light tanks and self-propelled artillery. They were followed by heavy tanks, suppressing the main pockets of resistance. After that, regular infantry units were introduced into enemy territory, supported by German field artillery.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. Autonomous Volkswagen stations for quick charging of electric vehicles 15.02.2020

Volkswagen Group Components and Germany's largest energy company E.ON have unveiled a new prototype electric vehicle charger. This solution will expand the deployment of charging stations.

The solution turned out to be very simple. A new type of charging station charges the electric vehicle from an integrated battery, and not from the network. This eliminates the need for potentially expensive infrastructure and hardware when installing a charging station.

The fast charging system can simultaneously charge two electric vehicles with up to 150 kW, providing an additional mileage of about 200 km on average in just 15 minutes.

Replenishment of the battery capacity of the station is made by connecting to a mains socket with a rated current of 16-63 A. In other words, such charging stations can be installed anywhere where there is this type of connection, for example, near industrial areas, buildings such as schools and hospitals, as well as large residential complexes.
